i think we have hard water here too. sometimes, when i go to some hotel or bnb and they use a different kind of water for a shower (i guess its soft water? or something?) i feel like the water is so slippery and like....i still have soap on lol.

Chances are the hotel water is also much more filtered than your home water

Yeah its probably filtered a lot more. Some places use specialized filters or reverse osmosis filters to do it.
