I am aware of this, but sadly that would mean having to add color tags to thousands of items in the database manually and starkad never will find the time to do so.

I strongly requested for him to please do so with Room items from the beginning, so we would never face the problem of having to do it for thousands of items in retroperspective, but for whatever reason he refuses to do so. I am afraid this is something that is out of my hand. Requested, but not getting any green light from starkad.

Forget about that. I just asked him for this again and all of sudden he cannot even remember that I had ever asked him about this before (which I did like a hundret times). So, looks like for room items this might be done easily, but for all the avatar items he will first have to built me a tool that will allow me to add the colors, because he'll never find the time to do this himself, so this might take a while.

I'd absolutely love if this ever happens!
I think I miss out on finding a lot of items because of this (I was just talking about the problem in another thread a few days ago, actually!) - since I don't really know all the items as a newer user, it would be incredibly helpful.

Adding to this, a request that you have probably already heard, and it is definitely a lot of work for starkad, as well as you: I'd love if items had multiple color tags, so that you would find them not only by searching their main color, but also by the second color that many items have.
I totally understand if you just say "no, way to much work, will never happen!", but I just wanted to put the suggestion here since it kinda fits the topic (and if you would consider it, it would probably be a good idea to do both in one go, so that you wouldn't have to revisit all the items you'd be tagging new to tag them with the second color as well).

Doesn't he have to change the structure of the database to allow for storing multiple color tags?
But it would be great, even if it wasn't for all items.

Maybe there would be a way to make the tagging of the old items a community effort? If he builds you a tool for it, he could also build one accessible to all users /volunteers /moderators or something like that maybe... Just a thought.
One would probably have to make it in a way that each item gets tagged by multiple people and the color that is most often chosen is actually taken or something, because only you can know for sure what the colors are and it would be not a good idea to introduce too many mistakes in the tags.

I don't know that much about databases yet either (I will have a lecture about them only next year), so I can't really say. But ultimately, it's up to starkad to decide whether he can do it.

I just thought it might be not that much more effort to implement a tool for multiple people, because you said he would need to make a tool for you anyway. But yes, it requires a bit more logic of you also want to implement the ideas to prevent wrong tags. And it needs a slightly better user interface because you can just ask him directly if anything is not clear in your tool.
Hm. I don't really know. Would be a cool project, though.
