Nan: Sounds about right I think it's 6? They have about three square meters "home base" ( built themselves) and get let out to explore the rest of the living room every day (since 3 sq meters is still a little small according to my brother. He and his fiancee are currently building a house though where they'll basically have their own room). It's very cute when you visit and they just climb out of their cage and run around the room.

Males actually need more space than females, about one square meter per male and half for females. I can imagine the males getting territorial if they have less space than that. I'd be especially wary of their advice if you go over and the grownups are kept in pet store cages
Especially since he's only three weeks old. Typically you should only adopt out when they are two months old so they can learn how to socialise with other guinea pigs from a parent. While you can adopt out at three weeks, it's not recommended.

Yeah with all of their toys around the room. I'm excited.

so, I ended up doing some more research about housing boys, and did actually find most things saying that the "boys fight/kill each other" is more or less a myth/rare occurrence. wanted to make sure by doing some research because I've been thinking getting Waffles a buddy would be good. he seems lonely at times and I can't do much on my own to help since he hasn't quite bonded with me yet.
so, that led to me doing a thing, and I may have reserved another boy from the same people I adopted him from (they just announced their latest litter, and they said he should be ready for pickup by the 7th)

(he seems grumpy with me today, he let me pet him, BUT I also ran out of cilantro. he loves his cilantro. and he was unhappy about the broccoli flowers I put in his dish. he seems very particular about not touching his veggie dish if there's -anything- he doesn't agree with. which is also sort of adorable)

edit: he also does this cute little thing, where he starts running in circles around the cage, SUPER FAST, making this sort of purring sound.

That's great! Running laps is a good sign. Sounds like he likes where he lives :) Just wait for the popcorning. that's also adorbs.

Is the latest litter from the same parents? So, would that be his brother?
I'm sure the loneliness comes in the most when you're sleeping. :/ He'll appreciate having a friend.

a friend gave the suggestion of Mousse, like the pudding stuff, and that's kinda growing on me as a potential name, even started referring to him as "Mousse" now too lol could call him Moo-Moo or something for short
