I guess be friendly but shut it down if you suspect that she's starting on a topic in order to hurt your uncle? Love the person, hate the sin and all.

Yeah, it's a fine line that's hard to tread for me, also. But it's great that you can be all three and recognize it when you're being pessimistic rather than realistic. That's a great skill to have and I wish I was better at it. But at the same time, I don't, because I don't ever want to be arrogant and I'm afraid that if I'm not constantly putting myself down I'd become too prideful. It's a very warped way of thinking, I know, but I can't help but feel scared to, anyway.

I suppose. I know my aunt acted like she liked her but as soon as their relationship started to fracture, my aunt was like "I KNEW IT!"
Like >___>
You know, for someone who can see deep into someone who's putting up a front, you sure as fuck overlook your shitty attitude and how it hurts our feelings Bu

Well, it's like...Say you enter an art contest with 500 other artists.
A lot of the artists are much better than you so it's likely they'll win over you.
To me that's being realistic.
But people tell me I'm being pessimistic and to be optimistic.
.___.

Maybe she didn't see it coming but just said it to make herself look smarter.

Well, I think it'd be realistic for me to come out around 200~300. And I think you're a better artist than me at the moment. So.

I believe that Bu

My family is like that with me and my art.
They tell me to stop being negative and that I'm better than literal professionals.
Like no, I'm not xD
But if I'm realistic, they tell me I need to be more supportive of myself.
But I literally ain't as good as someone that makes a living doing it xD
Like I could show them a literal masterpiece and they'll say "Meh. Yours is better!"
Like NO. It's NOT.
I can understand what they're trying to do, but that's so damaging.
It's like when someone can't sing and their loved ones encourage them to go on American Idol or whatever and sing.
I know it's hard to hurt someone's feelings, but you don't lie to them.
You don't tell them they're better than what they really are.
Then they just get this attitude of they are better than others.
And make fools of themselves xD

Yeah, I feel bad for some of those people. And their family are so supportive until the end. I have to wonder if their families are also tone-deaf. The worst was this guy who wanted to be called Sex because his "moves are sexy" and he just wasn't very good at dancing but then when he got rejected from... I think So You Think You can Dance his mom got on TV with him and said that the judges made a mistake because her son's moves are very sexy and I'm just... that's just... are they trolling? They can't be serious.

But I still think you're better than average. Because I think I'm average and I think you're better than me.

-nods- You know, parents want to be like "You can do and be anything you want!" which is encouraging, but like...
My dad always told me to go for what I wanted, but always have a backup plan just in case.
And I found that to be good advice.

Thank you. I wish I could make more art. I haven't finished a legit piece since last April.
I've made some knuffel and I did Goretober, but I don't consider those to be actual pieces.
The Goretober - I just copied the same base and sketched and colored quickly so I could finish.
The knuffel are just not that time-consuming or difficult.
No, the last real piece I made took days and a lot of effort and tweaking u8

Eh, my dad was always "you can do that as a hobby once you're successful. Focus on things that are sure to pay off."

lol I haven't made anything in years myself. The last "project" I did was recolouring the title page of the Little Prince to look like a character from a game I've been playing.

Can I see that u8?
What you worked on.

Yes, the perfect arms for perfect blue. But that was also a couple of years ago, wasn't it?

I did it on my phone on a drawing app and I'm not satisfied with the app but it was good enough for a doodle.
