Care

I was watching videos about disturbing things like I usually do, but one really pissed me off.

A mother was put into this asylum place and she was doped up and put in a room completely naked and was left there.
The nurses and such just ignored her.
Eventually, one let her out and she was wandering around naked, confused, covered in shit, etc.
They just fucking ignored her and someone even cleaned up the floor, but let her wander.
She slipped and fell and hit her head multiple times.
She eventually did die from the injuries, I believe.

This is the video footage of what happened:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/news/v ... elled.html

I have seen patients in hospitals and retirement homes and even kids in daycares and animals being neglected or mistreated.
It confuses me as to why a person would choose these jobs and neglect or abuse the people they're supposed to care for.
I know people "want money" but if you're that heartless, try for something else where you won't fuck up other people.
I also know people are just shitty, but how can they keep that job for so long?

My aunt works at a nursing home, and she told me about what happened at a different one.
This elderly woman had knee surgery and was placed there.
She was neglected so long that her knee got infected and her leg had to be amputated.
She ended up dying afterwards.
My aunt told me her family is suing the nursing home.

I just can't believe people can be so shitty.
Especially to those who are sick and suffering.

I don't like loud noises. I actually HATE loud noises. Of any kind.
So I would not look into being a daycare attendant or babysitting.
Kids are loud and hurt my ears and make me anxious.
I could never dream of hurting a little kid or baby anyways.
I've had to babysit a lot and I'd get annoyed and want to leave, but I stuck it out and tried to make them happy until I was done.

My aunt has had the same job for years and she's said she's had mean patients, but she cares for every one of them.
She gets totally pissed when she sees about abuse to patients.

If you don't want to take care of people and animals, why the hell do you pursue a career for that?

Well, from my experience, these institutions are ALWAYS understaffed. Nurses can have 3h to wash 40 people for example (people with disabilities that you just can't wash in a minute), and the list goes on. They're often very much mistreated themselves, in a professional way.
People going into care are mostly people who actually care a lot about their patients, but they simply can't take care of everybody the way they should because they're so understaffed. So at some point, to avoid their job from driving them crazy, they just disconnect with it, and stop giving a damn.

At a place I've been for work, someone litteraly fell on his face and had a huge bruise on his forehead. We were all panicked "call emergency services right now" etc. And they were just "No, if something happens, we need to call our boss and give him an aspirine."
Completely disconnected.
(fyi that person did go to the emergency 30mn later, and could be treated for his wounds btw).

Yeah, I get what you're saying.
I sometimes get burned out and just go through the motions.
But I like to hope I wouldn't neglect others ;;

That's good he got treated.

I noticed a lot of sites are understaffed when it comes to dealing with users.
I can see how shitty it would be if it were a hospital or asylum.
It's really sad.
I've also heard of schools hiring bad people because they were affordable.

I havent seen abuse for myself in those places. But when I was doing clinicals at a nursing home one of the CNAs I was shadowing was supposed to be doing something for a resident and she was just totally on her phone, talking. She just wasnt as professional as I had thought, but then again Im really new to this job. But if I was at a nursing home, I wouldnt have the time to be on my phone.

Im a home aide right now and I take care of someone in their home and its great. I get stressed out sometimes but Im learning so much new stuff and its great for the future. I dont think I could ever be mean to a patient/resident. I get awkward but Im never mean to them.

I get so frustrated when I hear about other people and animals being abused or neglected, its horrible,
but it happens and its sad. I also understand that a lot of places can be understaffed and I wish we did more to fill in those gaps.

Even at my work we have a certain amount of hours and we cant go over it. So the last day of last month there were no more hours and no one came in to help my resident out. So she was alone all day with no help. Thats ridiculous. So i told her today if something like that happens Im willing to try and come in and help her, even if Im not getting paid because she doesnt have family or others coming in to help her like that. It just made me frustrated.

I used to work in a long-term care facility. I quit when I went to college, but I had been dreading going into work for a long time before that. not because of a bad atmosphere or lack of care for the residents, but because it was hard on me emotionally, and I was just a part-time kitchen worker. I can't imagine how difficult working there would be for a full time nurse or CNA.

I see care staff ignoring patients in the hospital all the time.
Most don't care and it is sad.

I don't understand it either. It's infuriating.

I feel like people in general are just awful.

The video that auto played right after that one has scarred me for life... It was about a man violently assaulting people.

I can't wrap my head around it at all. I try to rationalize that people are burned out, over worked, any number of things, and I still can't understand how people can become so uncaring. I really fear for anyone that lives with people like that.
