I like both, but paperback is more affordable to me.

I know this is a little old, but I thought this was an interesting topic since I don't think I have ever seen a topic like this someplace before.

I do like both, but like other people have mention, paperbacks are easier to open and hold than hardcovers and are more affordable. I can be difficult for me to hold open my hardcovers because the binding is too stiff or some other reason. Hardcovers do look more aesthetically pleasing on the shelf than softcovers. Softcovers also don't hurt as much when they accidentally slip off the shelf and fall on your head. They still hurt, but not as much as a thick leather bound copy of Dracula does when it lands on your head. >_> (I have sturdier bookcases now so books falling on me doesn't happen as often as it used to.)

When I buy books, I usually get ebooks. I rarely do though. More often than not, I get my books from the library. I don't have a particular preference in reading. Hardcover is heavier but more durable. Softcover books are usually small enough to fit in my bag so it is often more convenient.

I guess it depends on the size of the book.

I tend to go with soft cover cause it's cheaper but if it's a huge book, than sometimes I will shell out the extra money for hard cover. Through lately been purchasing a few hard cover at the pound shop which I don't mind shelling out even if the book isn't the best in the world.

If it was based on price alone, soft cover (unless I'm at Dollar Tree, then they're both a dollar XD)

If we are basing on pure preference alone, as if they were the same price, hard cover all the way because they last longer.

I like how hardcovers look on the shelf, love how softcovers feel in my hands, and enjoy the convenience and easy travelling ability of an e-reader. I like them all!! :mcheh: :qh:

I'm probably always going to love hardcovers more since they are more durable and usually have a more beautiful cover, at least in my country, compared to softcovers. However, softcovers are more affordable and since I'm a Uni student I don't usually have the money to splurge on hardcovers so most of the time I end up purchasing softcovers.

Hardcovers seem to be expensive around the world - so expensive, but so pretty ... :mcheh: :mcheh:

True :mccute: most people here seem to have the same problem, why do they have to be so expensive :mcangry: :mcangry:

I guess it has something to do with the cost of producing a hardcover versus a softcover ... I don't really know though :mcheh:
