Do you think so? I don't know. For me reading is also a burden sometimes, in the context of university. So much research needs to be done before you can actually start writing your papers or essays. So in these cases - even if the topic is interesting - it is sometimes even annoying.

Ah that does sounds tedious, indeed.

Anything you are forced to read for study will always be tedious. We read Cold Mountain for A-Level Literature and I hated every damn word of the book. Years later now, without that pressure of study, I have to admit that I actually quite like it. I've had space enough to appreciate it now.

I'm almost done on the next book I started after that awful one. It has slipped away very easily which is a compliment to the author. I accidentally picked up the 9th book in a series haha, but they introduced everything so nicely that it didn't feel a bother at all. I comfortably understand all the characters and their backstories.

I noticed that I didn't get any reading done after September. This is when I started my master thesis.. :mcheh:

You are right, when you are forced to read something, it's annoying. Though necessary. Even if the topic is good.

I finished both an ebook and a physical book last night, I must have been on a roll :mcheh: Now I'm starting Thornfruit, which is a fantasy. I think I might also read Bone China, even though it's a really thick book. I'm back on track for my reading goals and I have some really short books lined up, so I think I can make it a bit easier even if I read something big now.

I managed to read the next Rebus book which was quite small and quick before Bone China. Now I am definitely starting on Bone China.

I've read a book which wasn't on GoodReads D: the author says she is trying to get it put on there. I hope it will be before the end of the year so I can add it to my challenge score.

@jacob: you can add books to previous challenges. doesn't help with progress towards the goal but at least the record will be right



I just realized October was over. wow.

I did finish "Sea of Rust", of the actual plans. reading "Black Leopard, Red Wolf" right now and, since November is also almost gone, that's probably what I'm going to manage this year. and maybe "Spinning Silver". keeping "Artful" on the list just in case, though I'm afraid I'm likely to start something else instead of finishing it should I be done with the leopard and silver by the end of the year. we'll see
