I did that for a long time. Tried hard to hang on to it, too. Then my sister got into the editing and reviewing business and for the past ten years she's casually been talking about this or that and the other pattern here and I ended up absorbing more than I really wanted.
At least she helped me figure out that the common denominator to all those books everyone would recommend that I'd be so astonished by disliking was that they were all first person. So now I can save myself some trouble in a lot of cases, which has been nice!

I just finished "Worth Dying For" and "Die Trying" (two of the Lee Child books). That author seems to really like analyzing violence, and its use, and effectiveness or lack thereof. I find it fairly disturbing, honestly, and yet I got sucked into the stories anyhow, and ended up absorbed by them! Funny how that goes.

@wulfalice I picked up some of his books, too! Only 6, which were two trilogies each of which only has the first two books released so far. I feel like if I like the first two books for free then the least I can do is buy the third when it comes out XD

My library's website has been down for days. Since Friday at least. It's driving me nuts to not be able to check my holds and see when my stuff is due! I hope they put things like holds, late fees, etc on hold until they get it sorted!

Sanssouci, that is reassuring that you are like that as well :D
I can imagine that it is driving you nuts!

I don't think I will get much reading done in July and August, but let's see :)

Congrats bombus on that, what a great achievement!

Akili, well, if you sister primed you all this time then I can see why you reflect so much :D

Ha ha, true.... if she were just BAD at it, I wouldn't, but sadly she is good at it.
<- highly biased/super proud of her

Well, if you don't get much reading in July and August, I hope it is at least a productive time for other things.

Every night lately I'm thinking I will read something before bed and then I don't get round to it. Very annoying at the moment. I also haven't been out of the house much so I've not been reading on the train like usual.

Sounds like you've been pretty busy with other things, too!

Honestly, though, sleep is pretty important.... not a bad thing to give up reading for.... :qwhee:

I've got to take off, but I'm still looking for (more) autobiography recommendations if anyone has any.

I finished my book last night and I started a new book
Daisy Jones and the Six - so far so good, not loving it but not disliking it either

Haha, there have been a fair few books over the years that enticed me into giving up sleep to finish them XD
