@jacobgrey: wow, your parents sound crazy. My mom usually says don't bother wasting money on a card XD Her birthday was last week and we were throwing her a surprise bday party, but it got cancelled. I also realized I forgot to get her a gift so that's still coming in the mail. She ain't mad we didn't do anything, also with the virus, it was understandable, but still, I've never seen her get mad over not doing something. I always find it crazy when people get mad when you actually do something.

Totally behind on my reading. I went to go read yesterday since I had time...I took a nap instead.

No, but to be honest it's nicer this way. My stress levels overall have gone down a lot. But my mum keeps calling J and he has to deal with the stress now. He finally understands how I grew up XD

Just started the third Shadowhunters book and my Infernal Devices boxset came this morning. I am going to be full of options for a long time XD

@Rubie lol this isn't even the worst one. Once when I was a kid, I remember I got her a huge mother's day card, like the giant novelty ones that was really expensive and used up most of my pocket money. She was working nights then so she slept in during the day. After she woke up, I didn't go immediately over to her and give her the card. I waited like an hour or something because I was a kid and I was busy doing kid things, and then she started yelling at me that I'd forgotten Mother's Day. I was like, no I didn't, here's the card I got for you that I wanted to be a surprise. She threw it back at me and gave me a papercut on my face when it hit me. Then refused to talk to me - again, like a 7 or 8 year old - for several days.

Wow. I just...can't fathom what was going through your mom's mind to be so upset about that. Like? Why? Upset at a child. For not giving her a card at a specific time. Wow, that's a new level of petty for me.

Oh wow, jacob, that's horrible! That's kind of narcissistic of her...

I'm behind with reading. Trying to catch up with that Pink Mouse, but dang, it's so messed up x.x I get that it's a lot of Russian society references and beurocracy and other metaphors for how crazy the world is etc. but the absurd is on a whole new level. To the point I'm wondering if the author is a genius or a junky :mcargh:
I'm halfway through but I'm seriously craving a nice book I can understand completely and could just breeze through :mcheh: This one seems to be the kind you will think on for months until you finally get it XD

It's kind of funny, since I stopped talking to her at Christmas and I've been talking with J more openly about my childhood and experiences with her, I've looked back and noticed a whole lot of incidents like that. I'm realising how much better my life is if I don't have to communicate with her at all. My mood and self esteem have gradually been rising higher and higher.

I get that, Mem. There was this book which of course I've forgotten the name of, which was supposed to be absurd on purpose, and I started to read it because apparently Oscar Wilde loved it. I think I got about 3/4 of the way through and there was a chapter where I had to stop and think about what the hell it meant. I thought about it for so long, I never finished the book XD

I love that you're feeling better and better without her around :qh:
I felt great without my sister, then she came back and now I'm a mess again... :mcmeh:

You know what's funny? The same day I wrote that, I went to read on and bam! There was a dialogue between characters about how one of them wanted to write a book about their adventures, that the book will be titled Pink Mouse (duh) and it shall be a work on a writer's writing process and the whole thing will be hapenning in the author's head (duh).
I got super relieved because now I knew for sure this book's a mess on purpose and it's supposed to look like a terrible first draft. Now I don't have to feel bad about thinking it's bad writing, because I've been told by many authors that every first draft is bad writing XD

Yeah, the lesson here is: toxic people are better off as far away from you as possible. I feel bad for people who stuck in quarantine with bad family members.

Ooh, inception XD

That sounds like a horrible experience with your mum, jacob!!
Unbelieveable that she acted like that when you were just a child.
But she reminds me a bit of my mum :mcheh:

I am doing good with my reading, I am about 5/6 through a book in German, it's called 'Letzter Bus nach Coffeeville'.

I honestly don't understand parents who are like that? What's the point on having children if you're always going to treat them disrespectfully? Especially if you're an adult with your own life.

Finally convinced myself to read tonight and got to almost halfway through the book. I would read more but I had to go let the dogs outside and sleeping sounds so good. I've been super tired all the time again lately.
