Selling Items

put up a fixed price for your item(s) and sell the item(s) for this price.
It is your item and you do not have to sell it to everyone.
I'm not sure if this can be interpreted to fit the situation or not... It could go either way...

I edited this quote. Must sell it for "this" price.

If the seller set a price on it he should sell it for that price, no more. Its unfair to a buyer going into a thread, posting he will buy the item and leave it knowing he was the first person to offer, thinking he will get it and have someone offer more while he was away and not have a chance to top this offer because he didnt know it was made. I think the seller should at least have the courtesy to give the origial buyer a chance to top the high offer.

I really don't understand the issue here.

You can't tell a seller what they should sell for.

If they don't like an offer, they're supposed to decline or accept.

But the seller wasn't taking offers. They were selling the item at a set price.

And someone offered over their set price.

The seller can sell to whoever they want.

Unless I'm still misunderstanding.

If it were an auction, then the first to offer the "auto-buy"
would be the person that gets the item.

Since it's not an auction, the seller sold it to the person that
offered over what they were asking, which I'm sure a lot of users
would do the same.

I have alerted Firn and we'll just have to see what she has to say.

Sometimes I think that all these rules are worth nothing... o.o

I mean... people extent auctions like they want (at least some try), people take offers like they want without declining or anything under the motto "let's see how much I can get and how far they surpass each other" and some people want to buy things but are left behind because one other offered more and gets the item without giving the first person a chance... x_x

What's the point behind all this? What are rules for if you can "sell an item to whoever you want for whatever price you want"?
Doesn't this also mean that you can say "no" to someone who wins your auction? I mean... have you always the right not to sell? Or only sometimes?

I'm very confused about these rules... x_x

The quoted rule is only for Selling. The Auctions have separate rules. And in the Auction:

You have to sell the item to the person with the highest offer at the end of the auction.

The rules have been updated now.

Terribly sorry bout all the trouble Moi I was asking more out of concern because I know I would be upset if I came home from work or something having sent a trade to purchase an item and seeing it was canceled while I was at work due to someone coming and offering more than the set price in order to take the item.

I... I don't see anything different. Is the "everything else not covered by the rules is up to the seller's discretion" new?
