You remind me of criminal minds. I used to watch that show all the time. Among other similar shows.

Is that the tv show about detectives? DK watches it too, I think.
I may have seen an episode or two.
I know they use real cases for inspiration sometimes.

Yeah, I'm really enthusiastic and interested in true crime stuff.
I'm very interested in Jane and John Doe cases and serial killers.
I know a lot of people aren't so I rarely get to bond with anyone over it.
I remember starting out learning about serial killers in maybe my early or mid teens.
I printed out a bunch of papers on some of them so I could study them.
It really pissed my dad off and he yelled at me xD

It’s about the Behavioural Analysis Unit of the FBI. So uh…yeah i guess they’re detectives? XD so they solve a lot serial crimes by analyzing the behaviours of the suspects/victims.

No wonder your father was pissed off, maybe he was scared you might be admiring those people's crimes, or something :qd:

Forensics sound very exciting from the outside.
I once met this girl who worked in forensics, and she said that it was quite less glamurous than on TV. They get a request to check this and that, they do it and they fill a report, and most of the times they don't have a general overview of whatever the case is.
She thought the upside was that her patients never complained about anything - cut, slice, poke, whatever you do they're fine xD

Profiling though, I suppose you really need to know everything and anything about the case to be able to do your job.

My dad also used to watch those shows. Until we got a….er…smarter tv lol. The old and clunky tv we had before was probably around 30 years old. Now, you can watch YouTube on the tv and he just watches mainland China dramas on it every day lol.

I won't go into detail, but there was this serial killer that killed women for a while.
Well, the police got a profiler to describe what kind of man they should be looking for.
The profiler was so accurate down to the smallest details.
It was really amazing .___.

I told my dad I was studying them to learn more about them u8<
He should have known I'd never hurt anyone.
He told me himself that I would never be able to hunt because I wouldn't kill the animal xD

I still think Forensics is really interesting. They help solve crimes and help give closure to loved ones.
Even if they may think their job is meh and boring - they're still making a huge impact on people all around the world.

Yeah it all sounds so interesting! But I dunno if I’d ever consider it as a job, what with all the sciences you’d have to learn, probably have to be physically fit to do it as well, since you’d probably have to at least do a stint as a police officer and attend police academy. Unless you’re like an uber psych genius lol.

Well, I do think it's interesting, just not exciting.
I mean, I like learning for the sake of learning, so this kind of let's-solve-the-puzzle kind of jobs seem really great.

I don't know how it goes elsewhere, but here there are college degrees in criminology.
No police academy or anything, just college degree.
I'm checking it in my university, and most of the subjects sounds like applied psychology.

Hmm well I suppose times are changing. I guess if you want to work on the field, you’d have to have some practical training since it could be dangerous. If you’re just sitting in a room or behind a desk, I guess you wouldn’t have to lol.

I'd love to go to college for this kind of stuff.
I think my brain is too fried to learn new information, though...
I have such a hard time with my short term memory.
But there's not many subjects I'm this interested in and willing to learn.

I eat, sleep, and breathe true crime stuff.
It always infuriates me when people lose evidence and contaminate the crime scenes.
If anyone comes across a crime scene, you don't touch anything and call the police.
Recently, someone had posted that they found a purse and it looked like something bad happened at the scene.
So they grabbed the purse and opened it.
You don't do that =___=
You know, they help identify people through dental records, right?
Well, there was this Jane Doe case where they had her teeth but someone threw them in the trash because they smelled bad.
WHO DOES THAT!?
OH MY GOD!
