I think it comes from watching people. I've always been quiet and chose to watch people interact instead of interacting with them.
I've also read a lot of true crime stories.
I consider myself an Empath too xD;

I think it is like trying to build up a tolerance.
I hurt myself on purpose to make it hurt less and to prepare myself for things that might happen.

For a long time, I've wished that I felt nothing.
No sadness, no pain, no happiness and no hope.
Just feel nothing.
People have told me that it's not good because I need to feel emotions to help me through life.
But I get tired of hurting and being sad and I'd rather feel nothing 8u

Please forgive me for popping in on the conversation, but MOI I have been on both ends of that and went emotionally numb with the help of medication. I can say it does, in a way, make life easier. However, it also makes those around you incredibly distant. I had to learn how to fake proper responses because I was not able to feel what I should have been feeling in that moment.
I can feel some, now, but I still think I prefer ed having to fake it. So far the only emotions that have come back are negative. Anger, frustration, annoyance. I'm sad to say I do not remember how happyness or joy felt, or love for that matter. Let's just say my engagement proposal was very awkward and uncomfortable. Lol

I don't think you can fully build up tolerance.
Just make things hurt less, but they still hurt.

Hey, Themis ~

I was told a new medication I was being prescribed made a lot of people go numb to things.
It didn't work at all on me so I didn't take it much longer.

The older I get, the more I want a nice piece of land away from people and I want to live there alone with only a bunch of meanass dogs and a bunch of guns.
But I would like to keep contact through the internet.
I love my family, but having them constantly up my ass makes me want to always live alone. With meanass dogs and guns. And maybe a few tigers.

I've always been a quiet, withdrawn person that doesn't like company and prefers privacy but I don't think I could completely live without other people.
