Greek gods mostly had feasts and fights and argued with each other, tricked humans or were tricked by humans and then punished the humans for tricking them XD I think it was Prometheus who stole the fire from the gods and gave it to humans for what he was chained to a rock and each day some bird was eating out his liver and then it grew back only to get eaten again the next day...
Then another guy stole ambrosia fromt he god and they made his suffer from thirst and hunger while standing in water up to his chin and with a branch with fruits over his head, but whenever he'd reach for water or the fruit they would elude him.

Exactly, they don't want people to understand the religion, they want people to blindly follow it. Religon is a crowd control device. My personal opinion.
But did they teach you about the old testament only? I remember they taught us both but didn't explain that much. Only that Jesus loves everyone and he sacrificed himself and at the same time he's the God himself and the Holy Spirit and by then everybody's brain was on fire because nobody understands it XD

I remember we were taught about Moses, all the Egyptian plagues etc., but we were also taught about Abraham and Hiob. Can't remember anything else though... They taught us all the prayers, how to pray on rosary. And life of Jesus, the Way of the Cross, the liturgical calendar, the sacraments. Then when we were older they'd talk with us about abortion for example (sin, of course). I had one priest who made us listen to exorcisms of Anneliese Michel and another priest made us watch a Polish traveler who was in some buddhist country and was making fun of the buddhist, calling them idiots and sinners etc. The whole class told that priest off for showing us such offensive material. And he was super surprised by our reactions, because for one, it was a Polish traveler he showed us (pff, so what? he's the idiot here) and second, he actually agreed with said traveler. We were all like dude, that's offensive and not nice of you and on top of that you're acting childish and arguing with the whole class. But he was an Italian priest, maybe they're more brainwashed or something idk. Although Polish priests aren't the best either...
And with religion being a control device that is based in fear... I'll just leave this here :D

We didn't watch the exorcsms, we just listened. And the priest was like "there's no way these sounds are human!" And now quite some time later I listen to bands who make such sounds in every song XD
I don't make any calls on whether she was possessed or not. It's not even my place to decide it. I just give her the benefit of doubt. I will always try to question anything because I have to somehow make sense of things. It's human nature to ask and question.

People just have their own beliefs and that's fine as long as they're not harmful or dangerous to others.

Education should be religon-free. We should be taught acceptance and cooperation, not xenophobia.
My bf's sister has a teacher who is a Yehova's witness and she's mean enough to give them huge homework for christmas because "she doesn't celebrate that holiday" so she doesn't give a crap. I think a lot of it was lost during the Soviet Union times as society was under the leaders' control a lot, especially when it comes to written documents. Myths are of course transferred orally, too (even mostly), but I still think this had an influence.

Oh, religion. Tough topic. I also believe religion should exist on its own and should not interfere with any other area like education, economy or whatever. I think it's fine to teach ABOUT religionS, but they should not infiltrate one's head with one specific belief.
I respect people who do believe in God(s), but I know for sure that I don't.

@Julez: Well, maye for Russia it was the case but I know for sure on the Polish grounds it was christianity that messed everything up and now we barely know anything. I think the most information you can find from Russian folklore but these beliefs were so vast it's not even close to half the things Slavic people once believed.

Yep, religion should stay on its own and not mess with education or politics. But that's utopia I guess.
I don't mind people's beliefs unless they force them on me. As long as we can openly discuss our views in respectful manner, I'm all right.

I always think there's still a lot we don't know about human brain. There were times when mental illness wasn't even a question because people didn't know anything about them. If you acted out of order you might just be possessed. I do believe in the paranormal myself but I just don't know stuff, you know? XD

I think we should expose children to different religions and let them pick one or none when they get conscious enough to make that decision. Essentially I don't believe it's religion that make us good people, it's the principles we live by. And they come whether we follow a religion or not, it's just very subjective.
