I only just started (machine) sewing, so I would have to think about it to make that kind of thing too. I mean, I could probably work it out, even just thinking about it now. I've made such items for dolls and suchlike as practice without a pattern. But it's nice to have a guide to get you started!
Yeah, a lot of people are surprised by my prices. Then I'm like, well, I'm actually paying myself less than minimum wage based on how long it took to make it >.>

I do so much hand sewing with my embroidery that my machine embroidery turns out to be a fun break X'D I need to rest my poor hands from time to time. All they do is type and sew haha.
I'm quite imprecise and messy also so it's a good idea for me to follow guides >.> I'm a "woohooo let's cut this whole thing out without even checking iiiit" kind of person XD I get carried away. Same with cooking, when I don't follow a recipe I usually end up making far too much food because I'm just like "put it all in the paaaan" haha~

I don't even get thimbles, like I don't know how anyone can sew with them. 95% of sewing for me is feeling the thread and the fabric, knowing how hard to pull, feeling it slip nicely into place so I don't have to turn the piece over constantly. I tried using a thimble and it was like sewing blind.
I have a sore back anyway so I tend to only work for maybe an hour at a time maximum, before I'll change position and do something that doesn't involve my hands and arms/shoulders. When I sew all day at fairs, I end up with a lot of stiffness and aching across my whole back, so I try to avoid that at home.
Maybe I just always sew at the same level because I don't find any difference between projects :'D I usually have at least three running at a time, but I don't like switching from one to the other in the same session as much. I like to focus in and really put in some work to get it done faster.
YES haha once I misread some ingredients in a recipe and put in the weight of dry rice when it was meant to be the weight cooked (like how do you even calculate that when it's dry GTFO). We had... a lot of rice that day >.>
Mostly I do it with veggies though. "I'll put in three of those, and I'll chop up one of those, and these will go off soon, and we might as well have those..." and suddnely it doesn't fit in the wok anymore XD
