my fave book is the second one, my fav movie changes between all of them at some point haha

I went to a marathon when the final movie came out and I remember the entire audience collectively decided that the 5th movie was going to be the 'naptime' one xD

The 5th movie was messy indeed. I was whining to bf about not having watched all the HP movies (just watched 1-4) and then he surprised me with torrenting all of them. We watched them in a week. And then we watched Fantastic Beasts, because I was still on HP hype xD So for me it's all pretty fresh. Anyway, yeah, on the 5th movie I had no idea what's going on sometimes. But Filch was super funny XD
Maybe it's because the shit hit the fan in that book? And everything was just a mess? (It's too long for me to remember though, I have to re-read...) Although... maybe Dumbledore's death was the shit hitting the fan???

I think in the fifth movie they just didn't manage to fit all the relevant things in, so it just doesn't make sense if you don't already know the story (and it's reasonably fresh on your mind, I guess, so that you remember the details). And then they did some things that are just plain weird, like how they depicted the fight in the mystery department (or whatever it is called again in english... Sorry, listening to the books in german right now...).
But yeah, shit did start to hit the fan with umbridge gaining power in hogwarts and stuff. Some parts of that are probably not so easy to convey well in a movie, since there's a slow, creeping increase in unpleasantness of the student's situation in the book that is just hard to properly narrate in the timeframe of a movie.
(I'm currently listening to the fifth book and realizing how many details I had just forgotten since I never reread that one and they are completely omitted in the movie)

Ugh, I can't wait till I can re-read the books now. I promised Ash I'd read The Way of Kings first >.< Only read the Prologue... so 2 pages And it's about 1000 pages...

The cut down story of movies is why I wish Netflix or something would make it a tv show.
I would watch the hell out of a properly done Harry Potter tv show.

Yeah, it would be a shame to have to change Snape.
But that can't be helped.
I'd want a more age appropriate cast though.
Alan was great in the role, but he was way older than Snape should have been.

Well, I can't remember the book description, but I think being a miserable man makes you look (and probably feel) older, so I'd let it slip ;P

Maybe, but Snape was only supposed to be in his early 30's at the beginning and Rickman was in his mid-50's when he got the role.
