Maybe you haven't been active enough yet today?
I don't really know how it works, but I got the feeling it's got to do with activity - the popup does not appear right after you log in.

Hey did I miss an announcement? Are they not doing the Advent Calendar this year? I think I haven't been spending enough time on the site so that's why I missed the last lost item, but I got this one since I was looking for the calendar.

Some people say it may be late, that it's happened before.
I don't know, maybe we have a different kind of event this year?
