Sue test? A sue test doesn't matter, really. It depends on how you present and flesh out the character, this is why character growth is very important.

Your character can be a 'sue', but she or he have a point of their lives where they fall and lift themselves back up again. The sues I can't stand are those who remain flat and linear throughout a story (in the world where they are the most perfect being) and sometimes even worse, regressing as the story goes on.

Sues are actually very prominent in anime and manga, most people just don't realise they are. xD
Miaka from Fushigi Yuugi was one sue I couldn't really stand throughout the series. Tohru from Fruits Basket was another story. Initially, I really couldn't care less about her, but as the manga progressed, she progressed as well, and I grew to not mind her as much in the end.
Get Backers is one series where almost every one of the characters are technically sues, but I enjoy the series and characters nevertheless because underneath the sueness, there are many layers and history to explore.

@Alice: I had so many misplaced hopes in the second book that I couldn't possibly be as disappointed in the fourth. However, despite that, I did enjoy the second book quite a bit. XD

I just get tired when I have to handle the baby. :X

@Xae: Tohru always comes to mind for me; I think she was one of the last straws that led to my quitting shoujo. Either that, or Nana (though she wasn't quite a Sue, or I don't remember if she was.)

I just finished Rosamond's penguin, so I'll go upload that in my art shop and head to bed. >>b

I never really liked shoujo even before I read Fruits Basket. I was more a shounen person, now going more into seinen. I actually watched the anime for Furuba first by the prompting of friends, which just lead to me really, really disliking her. Her voice actor did not help things much either.

It was only when I started reading the manga that I found that she's actually alright. The anime misses a lot of things and skipped a lot of issues about Tohru the manga had which actually made her a lot better as a character.

As for Nana, I already didn't particularly like the art style, and the story couldn't captivate me at all, so I stopped reading. I don't think Nana was a sue, though. xD

Bella still wins No. 1 sue in my books. >_>

I'm like 20 pages late in replying but.... :qcute:

I see i see! Nifty idea! I have some characters but I can't think of any right now...

...yeah...
...I do...

.. . I can't say it's hard for me to make up a name... I used to have a notebook where I put down all the existing names I liked. Male and female. I needed it badly for playing the sims because I wanted to get names quickly and not spend years at thinking of a name and then regret picking that one just because I could not come up with a better one.
What fairy boy? Will you show him?

Just go with a WIP title? On a forum they said think of a title that would fulfill two character's desires or something like one character's goal and the other's true desire. It was part of some meme game thing, but I thought that was kind of a useful idea. >.<

Lately, I've been thinking about re-submitting some writing to a critique group. I embarrassed myself the last time I was there, so it's hard to want to go back, but I keep thinking about it.

Alice: Well, I'm better at first names then title names XD
I can think of them spurr of the moment, usually XD

I'll scan him in a bit, just gotta find my flash drive...

Nuke: I'll probably do that, a WIP title XD
But I might just call it "Changer" because of the main race in the story...but it still somewhat lame >>
...I might use that idea for my oneshots 8D That's useful -goes to write it down-

I may send in more of my writing to you guys for critique XD

Can we do writing critique through here or do you guys put it on the writing forum? I kind of want to start a writing group somewhere based on a point system.... since a site dedicated to critiquing can be kind of overwhelming... v_v;

I wonder if I'm being egotistical about it.

@Xae: I can still handle shounen pretty well; seinen is good too.

I've never read Twilight, so I can't comment on the book, but both her and Edward are pretty bland in the movie. XD;

@LittleSea: We talk about other things here too, so don't worry about OCs. XD

@Alice: I have lists too. :) Even so, I'm rather fickle over who gets what name.

@Nuke: I don't mind if you critique here, but it might look cleaner if you did it in the writing forum. You could make up your own point system there too.
