I'm glad too because I had almost no confidence going into that, that I'd be able to draw this well, considering most of my art would have been considered pretty cutesy XD

But, I'm glad I pushed myself there.

True~. Not sure if you can relate, but sometimes I feel nervous drawing for others too? Like I want to make sure what I give someone is good, as opposed to when I'm just drawing for myself, which can just be for fun. There's a bit more pressure in drawing for others, and so it's slightly less enjoyable for me.

It's good to push yourself! :3 That's how you grow.

You have hugged Eruvandir!

@ Serra - trade sent~
And that horror compilation ... It looks AWESOME O_O

@ Mikael - Youjo Senki is about an atheist reborn as a little girl in a wartorn world. The god is trying to convince the MC that god exists by creating miracles and stuff. But an atheist is an atheist xD
Drifters is about historical figures being transported to another world after their death. They have to fight or join the black king or something.

I've only done fifteen commissions, I think. And they were either payed in foodpoints or by art trades xD

@Eru, such a large pile of items :qo:
And thanks, in the end I had a lot of fun drawing that. Really showed me what my current limits were, you know? And the fact that if I buckled down, I could draw a lot with proper references XD

@Mikael, oh yes, I totally understand that. Just about every time I drew something for someone else, be it fan art or just a request, I feel like I pushed myself a little to stretch my skill. I still do so even with my comic, as I continually draw poses or objects I haven't done before. It's a lot of fun and while I'm scared things will look "bad" the reality is I won't get better if I never try to do something.

Thanks Eru, have the fangs already c:
Hope the shortcut is okay.

Though do you happen to have '13 jester hats, or nurse items and '14 zombie and vampire items? I'm more than happy to buy them as been looking them for a while.

As for drawing, I could never draw for others. I felt really limited and couldn't force myself to draw a specific theme or character. I get creativity and inspiration during the most random times so drawing for people never worked for me. :mcheh:

The commission I did was the only one where I was really constrained in what I did. Everything else for friends, I had a lot of leeway in what I'd draw.

-a flower
-birds on a branch
-something RWBY

And I just picked what I wanted from there XD

That's nice that you didn't get anything too specific. :qsml:
Though there are people that work well with these sort of requests and it's quite admirable for me.

@Eruvandir

Aha, nice! Does that mean you like more darker supernatural action stories, then?

Most of my commissions were from my earlier days on KofK. I don't do as many of them now. Haven't in a long while, though I have one I need to get started on.

@Serra Britt

That's true. It's also tough if the other person's OC has some sort of detail that is hard for you to keep track of. Somehow I never really considered how familiar I am with my OCs in comparison until I have to draw someone else's. Like, in a short comic I did, I knew that my character A had antlers and face marks and details on his belt, and my character B had freckles and antennae and a flower crown, but I kept having to refer to my friend's character C to make sure that I drew the sleeves for them right as well as check the marks and antennae thing. (Just... we make OCs with a lot of details.)

I can see how artists who draw commissions really have to keep checking back on refs to make the character accurate, and I really respect those who pay attention to those details, regardless of their skill level or style. Sometimes when an artist ends up missing a ton of details on a character, it feels like they weren't even really trying...

@Haze

Aha, drawing for others can be both frustrating and fun. Frunstrating. I prefer drawing in my lumpy chibi style for others because I don't have to worry about the details as much and they feel more like fun doodles.

When I started drawing, I did actually try to capture as much detail as I could, like in this: https://serrabritt.deviantart.com/art/N ... -596626211
(This was drawn in MS Paint with a mouse, so I'm not unhappy with it.)

Later on, still using a mouse but a "better" program, I drew this one: https://serrabritt.deviantart.com/art/M ... -600852271
And it looks like it has more detail, but I actually simplified the design a little from the reference I was using.

I like details. I think they are important even if the style is simplistic.
