I'm always a day behind on my food log. XD
So last night was Nana's 80th birthday. We went to a seafood place and had popcorn shrimp, battered and fried shrimp, creole-seasoned boiled shrimp, crab, catfish fillets, cornbread, coleslaw, hushpuppies, and french fries. I haven't had something like that in so long, and all I could think was "these idiots gotta hurry up and get world peace so we can redirect our military budgets to tourism so people the world over can feed everybody local goodies, I wanna stuff this into some strangers".

That sounds like such an amazing meal, and it's making me feel like I should go eat something, even though I'm not at all hungry, just wistful over the flavors you described.

I made a bread dough with Italian salad dressing and soaked caraway seeds in it for flavoring, then rolled it out, spread pizza sauce over it, added cheese, sprinkled some sliced olives and chopped sauteed mushrooms, rolled it up, cut up the rolled log, and baked it into a sort of pizza version of cinnamon rolls.
They are delicious.
I just wish I had more basil.
