How bout both of you vent out what happened?

There's this girl I know. She's really short.
I once made a joke about her shortness. She didn't seem offended - hell, she smiled at it.
Later on it turns out that she actually is offended.
And it's not like she would even tell me herself, no. I found out through our mutual friend.
And today, said friend and some people, her included, all hung out together. I had some errands to run first, but I wanted to join in after that, so I called the friend to ask where were they, and he's like 'sorry you can't come can I explain later'. I'm kind of short tempered, so I just sort of hung up after that.
I felt kind of left out, you know?
I cooled off a bit and asked him for an explanation later, and do you know what he said? That this girl is still mad at me.
WHAT. THE. FUCK.
Does that mean I'm not allowed to spend time with my friends anymore when she's around, just because of some off-hand remark? :/
And it's not like she'd even tell me what's wrong. Gah.
I think I hate her now. ¬____¬
