I don't see the reason for saying "hi" on forum sites. If it's a very fast forum site where people come and go all the time, then okay, sure. But on a slow one like this, people saying "hi" can take up a whole page in the thread with nothing really being discussed and it looks spammy. I can see why people would want to greet each other in real life, but when conversations take days to unfold and you're leaving and coming back between posts all the time, I see no reason to fill up a whole thread with:
hi.
hi.
how're you?
i'm good. you?
i'm okay.
what's up?
nothing much, you?
lol me neither.
gotta go.
bye.
It's boring, and in my opinion, it breaks down the discussion that's already going on.
