I'm reading several at the same time, as is my way. Let's see. There's Hellboy: Seed of Destruction. This is a truly lovely piece of work. I cannot gush over it enough. Even if you don't like comics, you should read it. I'm also reading The Vampire Lestat, which I'm enjoying.
I'm working on a truly epic work of Harry Potter AU fanfiction which covers all seven books and is several times longer than all of them combined. It's... ow. Ow. It hurts my head thinking about it. It's fanfiction, yes, but these are complete novels, and it's written really, really well. The first book is called Saving Connor. As a warning if you want to read it: it's dark, and it has slash in the later books, although it isn't hardcore. The dark parts of it are, however. It can get extremely violent.
There's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which I'm rereading for the billionth time. Still laughing. My gosh, I love Douglas Adams. If only he hadn't written the last two books in the series. They make me very unhappy, mostly because they exist.
Also on my list are Silence of the Lambs, Middlesex, Watchmen, and Phantom of the Opera. Especially, Phantom, now that I think about it, because I'm planning on creating a comic that would be (hopefully) entirely faithful to the book. It's a project that one of my friends who is obsessed with it is helping me on, with creating the characters and such.
I recently finished Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. If you're easily offended, or get offended by anything at all, then you should probably steer clear of it. But it is from Jhonen Vasquez, and it is funny and rather thoughtful (if violent), so... it's up to you, I suppose.
