At least you're spending time on a classic!
I haven't read for a few days again. So busy with work x.x

I'm reading so slow that it's ridiculous, but I'm ok other than that! :mcheh:

Hello
I'm going to join the discussion if that's okay

@Jacobgrey, yay, another person who prefers to read physical books. I do read ebooks sometimes, but mostly because it is too much of a hassle to bring lots of books during vacation. Since that's when I read the most.

My own reading challenge for 2018 is currently on 6 books. I might change it to a higher number depending on how quickly I'll read the series that I'm going to read after the book I'm currently reading. Which is the Dutch version of Sans famille (I think its Nobody's boy in English?). I'm on the last chapter, but I always end up not reading whenever I plan to... Maybe I will get more motivation from this forum?

@Sanssouci, I know the feeling. I always have the intention to read more and than end up not doing so. (I blame high school for the loss of the feeling of just not being able to go without a certain book) Combining that with an overall reading speed of a snail, and I don't finish as much books as I want.
But I still have so many books on my bookshelve that I still want to read!...

I literally only read ebooks when I get a free trial of Kindle XD Or when I want to read something for brief research purposes only, not because I'm actually interested in the book.

I have my library holds set to go active on April 1st. Having a deadline usually gets my butt in gear, so my reading will probably pick up a bit after that!

The only free ebooks I have were those already on my ereader when I got it. Which are all older books which don't have any copyrights any more. I don't think that I have a place were I can get free trial books, since I don't own a kindle reader.
I do read papers for uni from my computer screen, but even those I prefer to print.

Wouldn't it work badly having a strict deadline? I can imagen that reading then becomes more of an obligation instead of a fun and relaxing way to pass time? Though, if it is a book you like, than it'll be alright I guess?

I read best with a deadline because it motivates me. Yet I also know that if I don't read fast enough and have to return the book unfinished, it's not the end of the world. I wouldn't want a more serious deadline than a library one though! :mctongue:

I finally finished another book! I had to stay up until past 2am to do it, but I did it. I was right at the end where all the dramatic stuff happened so I couldn't just go to sleep before it was all resolved X.X

my challenge was 52 books this year but I am already almost done with book 18 so I am quite a bit ahead, maybe I will increase the goal...
