Okay, sorry, this took me super long, but between me being away over the weekend and the caravan flooding the site with conversations, I only now caught up with this thread.
I'm glad you found the links interesting :) Did you end up looking at the sites?
Oh, having something like "true names" sure makes the naming of characters even more complex!
I love the idea of Coriander and Anise :D They are actually nice names and your way of shortening them makes them more accessible and "normal". I think that they'd work nicely as given names, especially if there's something in the family history to justify the theme :)
If you're considering making them nicknames, do you already have an idea of how the siblings came by fitting themed nicknames?
Oh, I think I didn't make that clear, Gardenia isn't her last name. She just has a bunch of first names :D Her last name is Wittingham, I just omitted that in my post. But I agree, if your last name is Gardenia, then it would be hard to resist the temptation ;)

LOL, nice!
Yeah, I only use KofK mobile for simple chats, but it doesn't have much appeal. I mostly play apps on my phone, since it's friendlier than going on websites.
Ohh, I'll have to check out those links when I'm back home! That sounds very intriguing (the site content); sounds like something I'd enjoy.
I can relate with you on creating parents who give their children quirky names. XD With a witch-themed RP that I'm planning I have some characters with odd names (a big WIP). Since it might involve the concept of "true names" (and faery tale/folklore-esque elements), I'll have to look into it more, but it is a lot of fun to choose a good name for a character.
While working on some side characters, I decided on the name Cori (her name's Coriander), and I think I named her sister Ann (Anise). I'm thinking there's probably a green witch of sorts in the family (hence the names), but one of the parents is non-magic.
After tinkering with some ideas for the characters, however, I'm wondering if these names are more like nicknames. I was musing over having Cori's true name be "Andromeda".
The main character (or one of them) that I'm working on was going to be named Casper, but now I'm wondering if Caspian would be more suitable. I guess I need to draw him in order to decide on if I want one as a true name and one as a nickname.
For Cas and Cori, their names came first before anything else (which is unusual for me, but for some reason, the idea of having two friends with the same first letter in their names appealed to me). I knew they were going to come from families where one parent was a witch and one wasn't, and that they were going to have different upbringings and opinions on the matter.
Bringing the convo back to your OCs, though, if I was a parent with a last name like "Gardenia", I'd totally take advantage of it and give my kids themed names too. XD
