I went upstairs and read my book for three hours (pretty much up to the point that I became so sleepy that I had to convince myself to put it down.)
@Alice: Nice. I like that Jasem thinks about those things when she's reading. I sometimes find inspiration in a book, and there are times when my opinion on a subject is influenced by what I've read, but on whole, I read for enjoyment, so I don't ponder too much about how a book affects me. These young adult and fantasy novels aren't exactly practical reading.
Aha, one of my characters has a mechanical wing too. X3 I was influenced by one of my friends at the time of his creation, apparently.
I'll go add your entry to the front.
Aha, being serious all the time isn't exactly the greatest trait; aside from being hard on myself, I'm rather hard on my partners as well. I enjoy working with details however, so it all fits together quite nicely in the end. After all, your writing is like an extension of yourself; it reflects your beliefs, how you think, who you are. It's beyond just being able to relate to your own character.
I have a friend who doesn't focus on too much detail in comparison. Her writing tends to be more quick-paced and upbeat; she actually gets somewhere in her planning and stories (though like many writers, it rarely finds an end) and it reflects a lot of her, er, female-dominant beliefs. I guess mine strongly lacks females because when I think about things, it tends to come out from a more male/neutral point of view (er, not that that's entirely true, but it's how I feel about it, anyways.)
I try to be somewhat organized, especially when I dig through my folders very often. My sense of fashion for my characters tend to be more based on, RL clothes (like the ones in online stores). I do keep a couple outfit samples from various artist, but I don't base too much of my characters' outfits on theirs --it's more like I'm trying to connect to their sense of fashion, rather than borrowing from their wardrobe.
All the images I save go in one of the following main files: anime, artists, BJDs, comics, games, gift art, KofK, media, miscellaneous, original art, photos, reference, favorite mangas. Most files are individually labeled by fandom (if any), followed by the name of the characters (if more than two characters, then they're simply labeled as "group"), and a number in order of when it was first downloaded, and artist (if any). I think I would feel a little nuts if I just threw my files into whatever main folder I've seen some of my friends do. That'd be almost 30k images in chaos. XD
