The pulled us back to get 'triaged' or assessed or whatever... then had us stand in the hallway in front of the room mom was going into... waiting for the housekeeper dude to finish cleaning... and he had JUST started when we got there... >->
I am really appreciative for the housekeeper dude... they had a covid patient in that room before us, so knowing that he washed EVERYTHING, walls, floor, every cord and connector... I watched him clean it all... and he was extremely thorough.
My feet were killing me by the time he was done 45 minutes or so later. They should have waited for the room to actually be ready before calling us back...
The chairs they had in that room... the bars that held up the arms, they came inward toward the seat, so they dug into my legs.. not fat person friendly i tell you... so I had to often get up just to give my poor legs a break from being dug into. =A= so more standing/walking...
We got there juuuust before shift change.. Day Nurse was really nice and thorough at her job as well. 3 blankets for mom! Everything was going fine while she was on duty. They drew blood, did xray, said she was a bit dehydrated,d gave mom iv electrolytes and a breathing treatment. I asked if I could keep their nebulizer mask.. o3o Day nurse let me have it... now I can glue to to moms face so she won't waste her nebulizer meds >:x
Day ER Doc (or ED... as their hoodies said Emergency Department not Emergency Room... makes more sense... o3o,) said she wanted a CT done because there MIGHT be a blood clot in moms lungs. When I told this to a friend, he said he had that happen to him a few years ago... it sounded like the issue mom was having. The hose to the nebulizer mask kept popping off the oxygen nozzle.. they had it up to 10 liters xD Mom really felt better >w>
Shift changed...
Transport team came to get mom... they were both friendly as they took mom out. Didn't shut the door behind them. Lady on that team came back and was all nasty. "This door needs to stay shut, and this yellow thing goes out here so people know she's a risk" ... mom doesn't have covid ya bish! And your the one who left the damned doors open! D:< I'm not opening/closing things unless I'm told to! >:x
Mom came back... new transport guy was all "is this your son" ... so happy at that =w= i can still gender bend people haha
Well he didn't hook mom back up to anything other than the oxygen.. =/
mom had to pee..
We hit the call button and waited.. Night Nurse was now on duty. She got upset that mom wasn't finished peeing like she said she was... and that the diaper was barely wet... I had to explain that mom can't really tell if she is actually going or not and that it's rare for her to feel herself needing to go anymore.
She took mom's 3 blankets away... never hooked her back to anything either... never gave mom back the blankets after she was done peeing... I had to get up and get them.. she also sucked at closing the curtain all the way...
We were pretty much left alone for hours till the night doc came in and said it was just a really bad COPD attack, and that she was on the boarder of whether they needed to admit her or not. She requested to go home. He left to make her script up and to have the nurse send us home...
we waited and waited.. mom needed to pee again... I got tired of waiting for the discharge so I got up, put on a glove, go the bedpan let mom go. after mom was done, I didn't know where to put the bedpan.. so I put it back on the floor where I got it.. didn't know where to empty it either.. as earlier the nurse emptied it into a specimen cup in case they wanted a urine sample from her...
When the nurse finally came back with the discharge papers and script, I told her mom had to use the bed pan and apologized for not knowing what to do with it after. I got thanked as nurse lady was super busy and prolly couldn't get to us in time if we had called for her...
They gave us a wheel chair with a oxygen tank on it for us. As we were headed out to the waiting room... there were hospital beds lining the halls, much like on the TV Dramas..
I sit mom in the waiting room while I go out to call for the taxi... My phone had 75% battery yet it still shut down on me while I was talking to the taxi dispatcher.. my hands are turning funny colors because of how cold it is... I'm trying to turn my phone back on... I'm calling to get him back on the line and he calls me back instead. Dispatcher dude wants to talk to the discharge nurse... x-x I go in, ask security who the hell do I talk to about this.. he points me to registration..
Registration nurse looks at me like I have two heads.. (didn't help that I had switched from my blutooth headset to my cat hear headset

... i don't think i deserved the weird ass look... =/
anywhoozles...
I got the weird look as I tried to explain that the guy wanted to talk to mom's discharge nurse.. she was all "Why?" and I'm all "how the hell should i know..." and finally she asks for my phone... hangs up on the guy.. =3=
thankfully I now have his direct line since he called me back.. I called back,... again... he was all "The hospital doesn't like your phone" ... i didn't want to say anything since the first time the phone just powered off like it ran out of battery and the second time, idiot nurse hit the end call button on the screen. =/
FINALLY got the ride scheduled. anywhere from then to 2:45AM... it was.. 11 something at night at that point...
While I was outside trying to start this call up (and i was on hold for a good long while out there) the oxygen tank on the back of the hospital's wheel chair had run out of juice... mom asked for a new one.
When I finished with the phone call from hell... mom complained about there not being oxygen. I turned to ask about a new tank when the lady said she had already called in for a new one. So I switch mom to our tank ... 30 minutes.. mom's running really low because she has to be on 4-5 liters while sick...
I go up and ask again... dumb nurse thought we were taking THEIR tank home with us... =3= i had to explain that we brought our own tank but needed what we had for the transportation... and that we needed THEIR tanks while we waited for said transportation.. she was all "ooooh okay" and called in the tank again, as she got it wrong.
45 minutes later, Lyft texts me that they found us a driver and were 17 minutes away. That's when they bring out a new tank for mom... thanks...
car comes, mom can't breath again... so I'm trying to talk her through it... though when it sounds like she had the hang of breathing... I'd stop and she'd freak... so I had to go "deep in, slow out" the whoooooole ride home.
We get home, mom gets to the side walk. Car starts to pull out and mom realizes that the driver wasn't gonna help her up to the apartment. She freaks, goes into panic attack/cant breath mode again... demands I stop the car and get the driver to help her up to the apartment... =3=
when I refused she gets more upset which means more breathing issues and she's trying to rush to the apartment building door only making things worse. I'm here trying to slow her down and get her breathing under control..
she starts shouting out for help.. its now like 12 something at night. She won't listen to me. We get inside the building. I tell her to sit down and rest. No... she doesn't want to. she continues to shout for help until someone actually comes out of their apartment...
Lady from apartment 1 tells her the same thing I did... low and behold.. mom listened to her... =3= Wouldn't listen to me... nope...
With lady watching mom, i was able to go up stairs, get mom's emergency inhalers, take off the 6000000 lb backpack and go back down to help mom.
We finally get her into the apartment. Mom has to pee, again... so I get her out of her portable oxygen hose and into her house one as she's waddling away from me.
She's in the bathroom, i'm trying to calm her down again, while talking to the lady that helped us out. I may have obtained a ride to the pharmacy in the morning so mom's copd meds can be delivered that same day... but while I'm trying to talk to this lady, mom keeps calling for me, making her breathing worse by getting upset that I'm not paying 100% attention on her.
Lady finally leaves, i concentrate on mom while trying to put everything away.. mom tosses her peed on socks into the bathtub instead of the dirty wash... then tosses her diaper onto the floor instead of the trash....
I finally get mom's breathing under control... she goes to sit in her chair (can't sleep in her bed till her lungs get better) I tell her off on how she acted when she got home...
Oh.. I had to pee since like.. 7PM.. so I'm handling all this crap while having to go... and it's like 1AM by the time we get her up stairs and into the bathroom....
So yea... she's now sleeping.. i hurt too much and feel like ima puke... its 2:24am for me now... freezing cold in my bedroom too...
