Drat it, I came too late to comment on our old 'dispute', so if I add anything to it, I will be taken as the one who cannot let things rest.
Alright, strike that, I will comment on the things I wouldn't want to leave uncommented and then keep my fingers afk, but will not take a side in the issue between JosieQ and butcherbaby since it seems it's "resolved" now (more less than more) or say who behaved worse.

No, the reason I commented on it wasn't JosieQ's "rant" as you call it, but actually that this point concerns me a lot. I actually adopted more Knuffel than I need just because I want to be able to have more than one stage of the same Knuffel (and I would give some of my multiples up for adoption if we could change the final stage after deciding for one).

That's nonsense, in my opinion. Here's why:
We can't change the final stage of a Knuffel. Except for Firn and starkad, nobody knows why. We've been speculating, but we don't know it yet. We don't see a reason how it would hurt anyone, so if it could be changed this way (without too much coding trouble), it would be a good thing.
However, there is a good reason why we cannot dig unlimited times a day. If we could, tons of  would be generated, making the inflation become much worse. After all, you'd only need to adopt one Knuffel and dig with it all day -> infinite .
Therefore, your comparison is off - you compare the complaint over a seemingly useless restriction (again, we don't know for sure if it's needless) with an obviously necessarry restriction.

I've heard it a bazillion times before that I should just deal with things (especially here on KofK) by people who are not in charge to make the decision whether to implement something. I've had the discussion over it just as often and it's annoying.
And I'm tired of hearing people make 'soothing statements' just to calm things down. I like calm discussions, I'm not fond of flaming or anything in that way, but saying things that are either 100% unrelated or wrong or redudant just to make everyone feel better/nicer is annoying.
In a recent dispute, someone complained about being badmouthed and falsely accused leading to someone else's comment that she didn't think anybody there was lying. What's the point of that? If someone feels falsely accused, let him state that, even if it means that someone else has to be accused of lying.
Why am I telling you that? Because I'm tired of people trying to soothe things by stating that "nobody wants to do [insert random bad thing here]" just to make the dispute seem less serious, no matter if it's related to the topic or actually true. You were doing the same there. It's annoying in the same way as it is when you say other redundant and/or needless things or made general assumptions as to why people did something (you did as quoted).
In any way, I'm still waiting and hoping Firn will tell us the reason behind the limit. If there's one, I will accept things as they are. If it's "just" coding, I will wait and see if it will be changed.
And before anyone says I actually picked a side: I didn't. I commented on the things I minded. I'm also not fond of swearing (though I can't say it bothers me enough to point it out) and I do believe that JosieQ could've worded her statements nicer, however, this has already been addressed, so why would I repeat it?

I'm still not so sure about the old adoption. So far I have stared and refreshed my screen for hours and have lost the one I most wanted. I like my Knuffels. But one thing I have noticed is that the newer ones up for adoption are still sitting there. My guess once the excitement fades they will be gone. I told myself I wasn't going to sit here for hours trying to get a knuffel...but here I sit. It is kinda like Knuffel-ebay waiting for those last few seconds to win. I am not a collector or have any mules, I just want the chance like everyone else to be able to get at least one of the older ones. I read on here earlier and was very disheartened by the way some acted toward each other. I think there should be limits. Each Knuffel has up to 5 stages. If a collector wants to have them at those stages than they should be able to get 5 and that's it. I personally don't see how these people are able to catch so many old knuffels when I can't even catch one? I hope I will have a chance to get the one I really want, but then it is a game and it should be fun. I know I get excited when my Knuffels evolve. I like picking out names for them that have meaning. That's just me. I have played different games like on FB and got bored with them. I wouldn't get upset if all my stuff was gone if I came back after a couple of years. We just need to remember this is a game lets make it fun and appreciate what Firn and Starkard had put together for us. And don't take advantage of it. So if I don't get my generation 2 air girl well than I just don't. I'll be happy just playing the game. Good luck everyone and have fun. (Sorry it is longer than I wanted) 
The same thing happened to me to TimTam!! Only it happened twice. If it should happen again I am only putting a letter in the name then hit adopt. I will change it later to what i want. Have to been able to get any? I like the Generation 8 ones. Air and I forgot what the other one I liked was and also Gen. 2 Air. She is my favorite. I really hope I can get her. I hope you get the ones you want. It is pretty hard and disheartening when you get that far to put the name in and still lose it. That isn't fair I think. It wouldn't have happened to the the newer ones. Well good luck time to stare at the knuffel-ebay again...
