I have a question. I want to create a series of knuffles based off of the characters from the Chinese Light Novel "The Legend of Sun Knight." In this story there are 12 holy knight (who do have official artwork made for them) that all have to have certain characteristics. For example: the Sun Knight must have blond hair, pale skin, and blue eyes. I want to create my own versions of what each of these knights are "supposed" to look like and I'll try my best not to copy what the "official" artwork say they look like. Can I do this?

SalmonKid> In general each stage should have elements added/growing, not disappearing. I guess it should be okay if you'll add enough other changes between stages. You could try with short hair at the beginning and then "melt them into head".

Tiamat> I'm not sure. When was it released... 2010? Guess it would depend on how different you'd make them. If you'll copy the whole designs it will be copyright infringement, but if you'll make a blonde guy with pale skin and blue eyes, but with different clothes design, hairstyle, named differently etc then it should be all right?

I am wondering if I can upload a Wild Knuffel that is traditional art. I used the base, and I have finished all the stages. I have photoshop and a scanner. How would I do it? Thank you!

Sure you can, we had few traditional art knuffel in the past. You just have to make sure that scan will be good quality. Then cleaning background in photoshop and making it transparent and saving as png~

I don't have corel painter, so can't test different stuff, nor I know how it works. Does same thing happen when you save as jpg or png with background? If not, then I think it might be painter messing up transparent png files, which means not much can be done about it. Did you try using export option (if painter has it) other then save as? Or maybe try saving as psd, then open in different art program and try saving as png?

With Corel Painter it depends on which version you use. Some don't support transparent pngs, the latest version does though.
It is possible to make art clear cut with painter just like with Photoshop or any art program I know of.
It is tiresome work in all art programs.
I use Painter to draw all of KOfK's art.

I was wondering, can I incorporate photographs I have taken or freesource photographs into my designs? Following the other rules of course.

For example if I took a picture of the sand at the beach and used it as the base color for my knuffel's skin, or something similar. Not taking a picture of an article of clothing or an anime character's hair and grafting it onto my design.

If I can use them, would I need to post the original photographs in a thread somewhere to prove that I took them? Or link to the source if they're free?

Thanks in advance!

As long as it is your own photo I do not see a problem with that.

I have all my stages done, and it's not the traditional one, but a digital one, I tried to upload them, but it says I don't have 5 files! I do! D:
