I was visiting my parents. And while waiting for the bus an old woman approaches me and asks me if I belong to the family of X (my great-grandfather).
"I do indeed!"
"You must be the youngest of the grandchildren then."
"I'm actually one of the great-grandfathers. I'm the grandchild of his daughter Y."
"Oh, I see! And how is he doing?"
"Well, he died. Like 6 or 8 years ago."
"So bad. I did not know it. Well, I've been living abroad for the last 50 years, that's why."
"Oh. I see..."
"Yes."
"And... how on earth did you recognize me?"
"Oh, that was easy, you look exactly like his mother when she was young."
:mcomg:

Apparently I look exactly like my great-great-grandmother, of which there is only one photo and she was already an elder woman.
That's so fascinating! I wonder how common that sort of thing actually is, generationally? :mcshock:

I don't know.
Some people pick up similarities here and there, they have a great intution.
I'm terrible at it though.

I remember asking my grandmother about her grandmother, whether I actually looked so much like her.
She was like "Well, yes, I suppose, in a sense."
Nothing definite.

But that old woman recognized her in me.

Genetics sure are an interesting thing. :mcwink:

Kind of a shame there aren't more pictures to compare, but it is cool to think that we're not going to have that problem necessarily anymore now that we've entered the digital age. There will be plenty documented for future generations who are curious. :mctongue:

Yeah.
Or not.
Maybe by then they would say "oh, but they are all static, we don't really know how you interacted".
Or if you show them a video they'd say "oh, but they are bidimensional, you don't really get the whole story like this".

Now that would be an interesting development! :mcblush:

I love the implication that future generations will be able to take pictures in 3 or even 4 dimensions. :mccool:

When I was a kid, cellphones were something you'd only find in sci-fi stories.
Who knows what future has in store for us?

I guess that brain-controlled software could be a thing.
Like there are prostetic parts that can be actually learnt to be used, the brain can learn to interact with that new synthetic body part.
The same, but with writing software.

Hiya everyone! You sure went through the pages since I last posted, lmao.

@TrickyLA, I want a dream-to-text translator first! I always have such interesting story-lines in my dreams, that I'd like to see them written out when I wake up hahah.
