My nephews birthday is two weeks after Christmas and we celebrate it the same as any other birthday oO
But we have to make sure to get his gift before Christmas xD since there are not many shopping days after.
I'd only merge the two if he was to get something that's too big for one of the occasions.

And my husband is a self-proclaimed "birthday diva" who is trying his doggonest to make my birthday as big as his every year. Complete whiplash. XD

My family is "no celebrations after 18 barring special occasions"
So for instance I had my 19th celebrated cuz I'd been cancer-free for a month

Ah I see. We don’t have rules like that, we just don’t celebrate things. Like I swear, I’ve never seen a single wedding anniversary for my parents. It’s to the point where I don’t even KNOW what the anniversary is lol.

Doesn't mean we can't make our own rules as we become matriarchs and patriarchs of our families! :D

I'll throw parties for my kids as long as they'll let me. As they get older and become adults, it'll probably be just going out for a nice meal while they go have a bash with friends. My husband and I currently intend to keep having a little getaway to mark the day we started dating, the day we got legally married, and probably the day we finally got to do the official ceremony. (My license expires soon and I'm too cheap to pay the stupid thing twice, so, early legal marriage.)

The most we do is to have a nicer dinner. That’s about the full extent of what we do.

Missed a few days of this, we'll see what happens.

It's interesting to see all the celebration tradition differences.
I'm going to go back and read up in more detail... funny though that anyone specifically bans celebrations? I mean, if someone wants to, sure, that's their time, energy, and money, why would you forbid it?
