it's alright to pop in here with some oc questions, right?

i was discussing this with some twitter friends, but consider this an open question: what would your ocs be like with/without a support network?

support networks, i feel like, are pretty central in how a character develops, so taking one away or adding one in can really drastically change the character imo. what do you think?

i'm not sure but it's welcomed anyway haha

support network, you mean support characters? yeah, i think it'll definitely make a change. i could imagine the character being very independent

not quite? i was thinking more along the lines of childhood, like. a support network being people around you to support you and help you through hard times. like a safety net? so i guess to rephrase my question, what would some of your ocs be like if you gave them a network of people who helped them through hard times, or took theirs away? i hope that makes more sense!

sorry for interrupting the conversation, by the way. i didn't want to change the topic abruptly but i also didn't think it was right to make another oc-related hangout when one already existed.

Oh, I see what you mean now. I have too many untouched OCs to remember haha xD But my kofk OC, Nina... I'd imagine she would be more quiet and startled by everything, instead of being amused/excited, if I took hers away.

It's ok! I forget this is an OC hangout lol

Hm, that got me thinking...
Amaryllis would probably become very dependant on these people if she had more of a support network. She's the kind of person to take responsibilty when she's forced into it and grows that way. With more support, I think she'd stay more meek, actually.
But then again, it's not like she has noone. If she was really without anyone to turn to, she might loose her spark and her ability to find joy in small things and turn out bitter, I think.

@Lycanthus i think a support network makes all the difference. Baek is more likely to feel fulfilled and motivated in whatever he's doing that's NOT related to relationships, IF he has fulfilling and supportive relationships. he'd have been able to endure a lot less if he didn't have a good support system growing up, he'd be cynical and very vulnerable.

That's harder, to my mind. That's an ongoing, you have to live with it forever thing, instead of one single moment that's the exception instead of the rule.
