Yeah, done with classes. Technically all of my "real" classes take place Mon-Wed, but now I'm also done with sitting in my office trying to be productive.

I read a lot about condylarths. Got distracted by debates on whale origins. Stupid sexy whales.

You know there's a new season of Project Runway going right now? And I can watch it on air?

Pet Moosey-Moose for me. Or for yourself.

Stupid sexy whales indeed. They're animals, after all. Need to learn to see that coming if you're going to be studying them.

I did not know, but I figure it's usually happening. Are you going to watch it? How far along is it?

I pet him a lot this morning. He is currently in the teardrop position on the couch. I pet Julius for you instead.

Episode 2 just aired this past Thursday. Which I think means you can now watch episode 1 online?
I like some of the designers and really, really dislike some of the designers. You should watch it so that I can ask if you also dislike them.

Thank you for the cat petting. Please pet additional cats at your convenience.

Did you and Dad end up going to see those two movies? Were they good?

I'll think about it. You should think about watching the new live-action Tick on Amazon Prime. We did (also on your Prime account).

I pet the cats again. Several times. Also Peanut. Pet Coral for me.

We did, although not on the same weekend. Logan Lucky is a cute and funny heist movie and Hitman's Bodyguard is a cute and funny action movie. Both were above average. You would enjoy them.

...How much are you guys on my Prime account? I thought you still had yours.

Coral gets so much petting. Constant petting. I told her some of it was from you. She gave licks in return.

I do enjoy above average movies.

My ability to feed myself is faltering. Please send help. Or food.

I went to log into mine and found us logged into yours. It was just for the Tick.

Watch the Tick. We watched Project Runway. The Minnesotan is so underwhelming. The twins look like they're going to be the problem that will last for far too long. I like the two people who have won so far.

Go to Krogers and get yourself some food! Or get a malt! I have no sympathy for you.

Was The Tick actually good though? I've seen commercials and it looks... marginal.

Yeah, I can't stand the twins. The winners have been good so far. Has Zac Posen aged, like... at all? Ever?

I go to Krogers, panic, and come out with only potatoes. My incompetence is staggering.

It was funny. Odd that he decided to give it a plot this time, and the amount and degree of violence is a little disconcerting, but it's basically in line with the comic.

His hair looks fake this year. Like he was going bald, so he lacquered, removed and immortalized his entire hairstyle. Otherwise unchanged.

Make a list first! Use Anylist. If you have a list, you can focus on the list instead of on the vast expanse of the Krogers.

Okay, you win. I will watch.

I think there's an art to grocery lists that I haven't mastered. Do you pick foundational ingredients that could become things and then figure out what to do with them later? Do you have meals in mind and collect what is needed for those? Do you try to establish a working stock of items at home and then replenish as needed? All of the above?

Also, I can't find parmesan cheese, at least not in sprinkleable form. Not at Krogers and not at Target. What am I doing wrong???

Good. Go watch.

There's a selection of basic staple items - milk, cereal, pasta - that you monitor and refill as needed. This also includes slower turnover items like flour, as well as perishables like fruit and vegetables that are consumed quickly (please eat fruit). These items are the reason you should go shopping at least once per week.

If you want to make something specific, then you put everything you need on your list. If this list includes items that expire and must be bought in bulk, you should plan several meals that use the same item or find a way to freeze them. That's why it sometimes seems like I'm going crazy with coconut milk or heavy cream recipes.

If you find that you can't consume perishable items quickly enough, buy them in smaller amounts or find shelf-stable alternatives (Freezing them yourself is also an option - herbs in olive oil, for example. Fresh herbs invariably go bad). That's why I keep canned fruit and applesauce as semi-staples. Frozen food can be a good investment if you're wasting a lot when you buy fresh, but cans are usually your best choice. Compare price per ounce for each item, canned vs. frozen.

As for the cheese: Are you looking for it in the cheese aisle? I can't remember where I've found it, but it might have been near the bagels at Cub. Are you scanning for the green package? It looks like Kroger also carries a green package. I could also imagine finding it by the premade pizza dough. We had a lot of trouble finding a few things at Kroger, so you might have to ask.
