You're not legally required to put a chapter break at every scene break.
If you wrote the djinn story, then I need to know where you've been hiding all your weird, kind-of-racist opinions. And your horrific ideas of what a good relationship looks like.

You can still watch the recap episode. The opportunity continues to exist. Did we watch 6 together? Are you watching legally now?

You are indeed better at AO3 filters; also, there's a lot more Star Trek on ff.net than on AO3.
Cannibalism isn't that common, I suppose. I can't recall a situation where I've been reading a fic and thought, "Wow, I wish one of these guys would kill and eat the rest of them already".
I was going to say that I don't read unknown fandoms, but then I remembered that I read Teen Titans sometimes. In my defense, I used to follow a lot of artists who drew art for the show. I don't read for fandoms I know nothing about because I hate having to constantly look up characters.

I just watched the entire first season of Dirk Gently. Then I had a fangirling fit and watched it all again. Two times in two days. 90% of the time I was watching it I was flailing my arms madly in enthusiasm, and the other 10% I was clutching my heart in shock. I would watch a solid hour of just Elijah Wood and Samuel Barnett making emotional facial expressions at each other. I also really liked the cinematography and editing? Which I didn't know were things I could feel strongly about.
I know that it's more your thing than mine, but I ship every (non-incestuous) permutation of the main cast. The chemistry was just that good. Of course, my favorite ship for this show is the one that was given the most screen time, that is, FRIENDSHIP.
Why does the second season not come out on blu-ray until next month?

That's what I did for FRT. I think it is required, and you are wrong. Who's posted a longer fic, here?
And you never even knew! Muahahaha!

No. And no. And maybe? And probably not, because Daily Motion is incredibly sketchy.

I can teach you. Let's talk over break. And I'm sure the good stuff is on AO3, so why bother with loads of ancient trash?
I've got a thing for villain protagonists? Maybe? It's one of many things that often overlap. It's hard to keep track of all of the things sometimes. I am very edgy, after all.
Ha! Ha ha! That's no defense at all! It's not that hard to look up some reference images and you know it. After a while, you start to memorize the faces.

Good. That was my exact response, except perhaps for the cinematography and editing. I really loved the music, including the background sound. And Elijah Wood has always had a very expressive face, so of course that's worth watching.
Do you really mean EVERY non-incestuous permutation? Who do you include in the main cast? Are you also very angry with what happened to the police guy? I was very angry for police guy.
To make us sad.

Wow, it... definitely hadn't sunk in until now that you've posted more fanfiction than me both in story quantity and story length. How on earth did that happen? I'm supposed to be the long-winded one. When did I lose my entire identity? Or did you take it from me?

So what was the first season we watched together? 8? 9? Did you watch some of them by yourself?

I feel like you're probably wrong. There's no reason to assume that more recent works for a very aged fandom are better, especially since AO3 appears to be dominated by a handful of very determined shippers who don't let the fact that their fandom is mostly dead slow them down.
Such an edgelord, you. With your cannibalism and your murderers. Do you stick to fics that actually make use of the edgier elements of the canon, then? Because otherwise I don't see the benefit of going outside familiar fandoms.
While I was composing a reply to this I remembered that I sometimes read fics for Final Fantasy VII, too. So I guess my policy is I have to at least read the TVTropes main page for the work, because once I've done that I have an okay grasp on who's who. Faces I remember okay, but names--especially names that start with the same letter--give me trouble.

The music and sound were indeed excellent. They complemented the cinematography and editing.
Perhaps I'm being more conservative with whom I include in the main cast. I'm excluding villains and people who are too old. You've got your main four good guys, and Bart the dirt muppet and her murder assistant, and I'll roll the Rowdy 3 in there as a collective character. I would throw the younger police detective into the mix too, if not for his critical existence failure which, yes, made me very angry. The end of the season was so GYAAAAAH. Everything looked amazing, and then he got shot, and then I thought he might survive, and then he didn't, and then everything was terrible. My chain = yanked.

I'm the artistic one. You can't fight nature.

No clue! Don't remember!

Yeah, that was a lie. The older stuff is usually better. I'm just here for the weird modern crossovers.
Mostly? It's very difficult to keep track of characters you don't know when they don't act like themselves. And it's particularly annoying when the serial killer doesn't act like a serial killer. Makes the fluff feel forced.
So you could read any TVTropes page and then read all fanfiction? Sounds good. I approve.

That's pretty much who I let into the main cast, too. Poor, poor police guy.
So you ship the Rowdy 3 with Bart's assistant?

But you still have all of the traits from when you were the smart one! You're taking everything! All I have left is my fat cat.

You're a liar by nature, but your devotion to AO3 worries me at times. What of loyalty? What of history? What of not having to see people tag their horrifying fetishes?
So you want fluff where the serial killer is definitely acting like a serial killer? Like, fluffy murder?
Theoretically... yes. In practice the browsing paralysis would probably be too strong for a lot of things, and I would never read any fanfiction. Such is my glorious burden.

Of course I ship the Rowdy 3 with Bart's assistant. That would be amazing. Can't you imagine it? I'm not sure if I want him to actually romance all four of them at once, but definitely at least a subset of them. He's already been numbed to spontaneous violence, so the relationship would have a wonderful head-start.

Enjoy your fat cat.

Thank you so much for that. What of loyalty? What has FF ever done for me? They pointlessly criminalize large portions of their user base with rules that they have little hope of uniformly enforcing, all for the sake of a veneer of decency. And I enjoy many of the tags. How are you supposed to find what you want if it isn't tagged (in)appropriately?
Fluff with the possibility of murder. It's also annoying when the non-murderer decides the murder is completely okay and not terrifying at all. It's a complicated sort of relationship.
Glorious. I guess you still have your fat cat.

And you question my Hannibal fanfic preferences?

Nooooooo it's not true you're not a liar by nature. Only a liar by choice? It's just that the lies are so hurtful.
FF.net may have never done anything for me, but it sure has existed for my entire fandom life, and for that I will give it all of my misplaced loyalty. Something about AO3 actually does rub me the wrong way, though. Maybe it's the enormous tag clouds that make browsing a slog? I don't not want the information, but I also don't want to see it as an entire stream-of-consciousness drabble below the fic title. I might prefer it if you could minimize the tags, and then I would only expand the ones for the fics that caught my interest. Being able to conveniently exclude all crossovers would be nice, too.
Oh. Yeah. I wouldn't want non-murderers to be okay with murdering, generally speaking. Only if there had been a very looooong slow burn for them to get used to the idea, and by that point they would probably not be good people, if not murderers themselves. Murder is complicated.

Hey, I ship a murder-numbed victim of circumstance with a group of violent, unstable criminals who have rather improbably never killed anyone on-screen, but that's a far cry from shipping a straight-up garden-variety serial killer. I will question your preferences all I want. You are welcome to question mine.

It's not true that I'm not a liar by nature. Good. Yes.
Some of the tagging does start to get egregious, yeah, and I would also like to be able to filter out crossovers. There might be a way. I will look into it.
Yeah. I read one of those. It was very satisfying. Nobody was good people by the end except for their dog.

I know, right? I find it hard to believe everybody they hit with metal objects is that resilient.
Can I judge your preferences? You usually object to my judging of any aspect of you. Not that I don't also ship that. I ship everything.

Use your AO3 superpowers! Fix the system! Or at least work around the system in a convenient way, and then share your secrets with me.
Are you sure that the dog was still good people, though? Not even a morally ambiguous dog?

...I suppose you can judge my preferences. But only when we're in different states. Being judged in text is different than being judged in person, and I'm still very sensitive.

Over lunch I was trying to appreciate the Dirk Gently fandom on tumblr, but it's impossible to do without getting season 2 spoilers. Curse them all and their BBC America-viewing ways. On the flip side, it looks like the entire second season will be very much like the arc on Angel when they went to Pylea, which is a shocking swerve toward non-urban fantasy that I wasn't expecting. Maybe someone will dance the dance of shame.

I have no superpowers. Only normal powers, like smelling dill.
How can you say that about a dog?

In that case, you might want to rethink your home visit.

I'm sorry you spoiled it for yourself with your lack of self control. And now you've also spoiled it for me, so that's nice. I'm hoping it's Alan Tudyk's character who dances the dance of shame. I'm also hoping not too many more people die, which I fear is a vain hope.

Will it be out in time for us to watch it before you leave?
