My thumb is highly trained for aiming at kofk threads :D I even hit the little icon that jumps straight to the new posts ^^
I don't really have any problem reading kofk on mobile, I just don't like typing a lot on it. Or doing anything complicated that I would like to open multiple tabs for, like figuring out a trade or something like that.
Okay, now about the naming:
For me it depends. Sometimes I have a name in mind almost immediately when the character idea comes. But if that is not the case, I typically first clear up my ideas of what the character's background is, what their tastes are. Then I try to create their looks using some dressup game (I can highly recommend
this site. There's a lot of really beautiful and flexible dressup games on there. Just takes a bit of looking around, since there's also a lot of weird ones or ones that don't work anymore at least in my browser. Some of my favourites are
1,
2,
3,
4). Once I got that, sometimes just by looking at them a name that fits comes to mind, or maybe not a concrete name, but a feeling for the style.
Then I like to look at
this naming site for inspiration. I linked a particular blog article that I ended up using to create the name for a character I recently created - for this character, I felt like her parents would have some slightly eccentric themed naming ideas, so I ended up going all flower names for her and she ended up called Amaryllis Violet Gardenia. Poor girl :D She has people call her Ama for short ;) Her sister is called Cassiopeia and even though I didn't bother to fix more than her first name (she's not a character that is actually present in the story so far), I imagine they are something inspired by constellations as well ^^
But in general, I love this site! There's so many interesting articles about naming trends and styles, I've wasted hours on there :D I mostly end up remembering some blog article when I try to look for a character name and then look for that one and see if it inspires me. But it also has a handy search to look up names with some constraints on what letters it uses, how common it is and some style filters, I sometimes use that, too. And I also use the search to check the meaning of a name once I have found one or several that I like. I'm not strictly always looking for a meaningful name (since it seems actually unrealistic that a character would have a name that somehow reflects events later in their life), but I like when I find one with a nice meaning. And sometimes I do actually prioritize the meaning some more, it depends on the setting. Like, if it's a fantastical creature I'm naming for example, I like it if the name kind of fits that.
