what kind of phone do you have?
because im on my aunts family plan, but i can never trade in my phone because she has to be there physically, and she never wants to be there. >.> so i always have to outright buy my phone, and just switch the sim card.
so you should be able to just, buy one elsewhere, and switch your sim card over, and your dad would still be paying for the service as is.
