O_Oholy crap! I LOVE HER!!!!!! i LOVE creepy eyeball things! i mean like i am obsessed love them. i even have two eyeball tattoos. i just bought her, by the way, before i even finished reading your post.  EDIT: i also really love the colors and shading of her hair, and the interesting texture pattern on her wings.

Actually no. XD
I put a base layer then I set the brush to about 5% opagancy and disolve. I go over it several times with different colors then do a Gaussian blur. It allows you to dictate exactly what colors will be there and where. :) Works surprisingly well and you can all all sorts of layers of color.

Oooooh Dissolve layer modes. That is an interesting technique. I forget about layer modes outside of the basic multiple, overlay and screen. XD Since Sai has such limitations in that area.
