Was it one of those dvds that only have 4 episodes? I only like to buy full series at a time.

Hi Raine~ 0u0
I wanted to consult your expertise on adoptables lol ^^ I'm thinking of starting to make some to sell on dA, was wondering if you could help give me some tips? Like with pricing and groups and rules @.@ I've been stalking your adoptables on dA to figure out how to go about this myself xD but I figure it'd be nice to ask you directly too =3
Thanks!! <333

(Btw, I LOVE your avatar right now! <333 )

@ Moi- ;u; I hope you can find it! <3

@ KC- Ahahah yes sinbad is a fun character. I really liked that there was a lot of fun and interesting characters in Magi. <3

@ Natsuyuki- Ahh sure I'll try to help out :mcglee:

Um the first thing I think that is good to know is that a lot of adoptable sales are unfortunately based on popularity. Submitting your adopts to groups (or even normal art to groups) can build up a bit more fans if you need, but I noticed from helping others that sometimes people make really good adopts that just don't sell. :(

BUT I really think submitting to lots and lots.. and LOTS of groups helps. When I sold my first few sheets they didn't sell very fast, but after submitting them to like 20+ groups I started to build up more and more fans and now they sell pretty fast.

You can usually see what groups I use if you go to any of my adopt sheets, though earlier sheets will have more cause I started to get lazy. >_> I recommend joining and submitting to Kawaii-Unite. I submit almost everything I post to that club because it accepts automatically and it has a large amount of people watching it. (it's also a fun place to find new people to watch lol)

For rules I think you should choose ones you're comfortable with. Maybe check out a few adopt sheets from your fav artists and see their rules? Try to think of things to protect yourself. Like if you're uncomfortable with them re-selling what they bought then make sure it's in the rules. Or maybe if you prefer they ask you before selling you could do that. It's really about making sure you don't get upset over things they might do and that they know what to expect.

Definitely DEFINITELY do not give out the art until you have been paid. Payment always comes first. If they don't pay first they don't get it. Otherwise they will more than likely scam you and it sucks. D: Just watermark your adopts and send them the unwatermarked version after you see the payment has gone through.

Pricing. Pricing it tricky cause it also depends on popularity. I'd start with something really small (like maybe $5 or even $3 if it's a small and simple design) and see how they sell. Once you notice they sell fast you can raise the price a bit and go from there. It's a lot of guessing and trial and error. Generally though, more detail means more $$. I'm sorry I can't help much with pricing. ;__; it's really different from person to person. @_@
I started out at I think $5 and now I'm selling them for about $25-$30 each, but that took a lot of posting to groups and building up fans. So it's a lot of work to raise prices. ^^;

I hope that helps? I'm sorry I am kind of bad at explaining things and organizing my thoughts. If you have questions about anything I'll do my best to help!

And thank you about my avi! :mcgrin: <33

Another question! About buyout vs auction, which one do you think is better to go for for just starting out? :3

Thanks agaaaaiiiin <3333333

I'm glad it helps ;u;

I think most times buyout is the better option overall. Auctions are tempting, but I find that most people don't want to wait and watch over it so they prefer a set price. I've even seen some popular adopt artists not do as well with auctions.
So yeah I'd stick mostly to set price adoptables and maybe save possible auctions for special adopts (like ones that are bigger or have more detail than usual ect)
