LOL well originally I wanted my name to be "Hotaru." I had recently found out that "hotaru" meant "firefly" in Japanese and I thought it was really cute! However, "Hotaru" is a pretty popular name on just about EVERY avatar social site there is.
After going through several permutations of me trying to figure out how to get the name (the first ever site I tried this on was GaiaOnline, Gaia was the first avatar site I joined at the time; for a certain amount of time, I was known as Hitsugaya Hotaru because at the time, I was a huge fan of the series "Bleach"), I ended up coming up with the name "Hotarla."
At around the same time I figured out the name that will one day be the one I used everywhere, I was watching a dubbed anime on tv called "Spider Riders." (It's a series about kids riding around on mecha looking spiders) Strangely enough, one of the characters (a very small, very minor character, the spider companion of the young princess of the series) was called "Hotarla." I don't know if it was because of my subconscious or whatever but maybe, somehow, in my search to find a name that was similar to "Hotaru," my mind picked up "Hotarla" from this series.
And, to this day, "Hotarla" has become the name I use everywhere. XD
