Well the original story has all the emotional punch, and the discovery of the characters, and while you
can do sequels with the same kind of discovery and emotion, they usually fail to and just go for stupid rehashing of the first thing. XP
Like the second "Little Mermaid," it's just the first one all over again with her kid being obsessed with the sea instead of her with the land. Ugh it's the worst. You didn't have to do that, why'd you do that.
I think the problem is that people
like when everything's new, and they think relationships fail and lose their shimmer after the first kiss, so god help us if we show the couple from the original movie actually going on and expanding their relationship and getting into new adventures, that would be dull, dull, stupid!
Did society create the movie, or did the movie ending after the first kiss create the society where relationships can't last and people get bored so quickly?
That's why it's so much easier to just reboot everything now. I don't hate reboots or anything, a lot of them are really good and even better than the originals, but they do take less effort than a good sequel that equals the first.
