Thanks, Mynah.

DC, I used to be able to get away with cheese and yogurt, but now I almost can't eat ANY dairy that isn't baked into something. Did get away with a sprinkle of feta the other day.

I can only get away with curds, yoghurts and cottage cheese, too.
But it's okay because there are a ton of vegan milks, and they're not all expensive or difficult to make at home. Oat milk, or rice milk for example.

I hear that you won't get the calcium from vegan milk unless you get the kind that's been fortified with calcium. If you're drinking it just for the taste and you're getting calcium in other ways it'll be fine but if you want the calcium with it home-made probably won't cut it.

Yep, obv they have completely different nutrition values; this is just like if I'm used to drinking milk in the mornings I'm trying vegan recipes that use milk substitutes. I get calcium from finger millet; it's got pretty high calcium content. And then there's calcium supplements if you can't have any milk products at all including curds and yoghurts. I just try to stick to home-made as much as possible, or cooking from scratch, because vegan milks even if they're fortified often have other ingredients I'm not comfortable with or don't know about. But that's a personal preference- for unprocessed and unpackaged foods as much as possible.

Maybe it's the different kinds of dairy or different amount

DC, did you try just the cereal without the milk? I'm allergic to some.

Wheat flakes (even though I can have regular wheat in bread and everything, so weird) and Lucky Stars. Also certain brands of muesli :mcshock: while others are just fine by my system. The safest cereal-type thing I can have are oats.

I'm not allergic to anything. And I've eaten the cereal without milk. Nothing. So I think I'm lactose intolerant. In fact the pills seam to help.

Plunger laundry: Clothes in tub, add water and soap, put a few holes in the plunger, and then put it on the floor of the tub and plunge and plunge and make the water move.

I can't have oats, and all the rice milk I've tried is terrible sweet. I get this Canadian made almond milk that's organic, and has calcium in it.

Things like lactose intolerance can change with time, I've found. Even allergies can. For awhile I had pretty strong reactions to ginger. Now, I can eat ginger whenever.
