What comes to mind when you think of chivalry?
Is it men opening doors for women theyre interested in?
Do you think chivalry is dead?
I am reading a book about the knights and chivalry, and it is an ideal of loyalty, bravery, courtesy, generosity, and humility.
Why would those ideals be dead?
What is chivalry really?
What does it mean when a man opens a door for a lady?
I think chivalry is a sort of idealized code, or romantic code, where men show respect to women, not where they necessarily woo them.
Balmung [from Dot Hack] is a knight, and he protects women from monsters, but he says he doesnt understand women and seems to rarely date. He treats women well because it is part of his code.
Women could be knights too. It just didnt happen very often. How did a woman demonstrate chivalry? Was it towards men? or towards women?
