I don't know much about buying stuff for babies.
It's been almost 15 years since my sister was a baby xD;

I'm pretty sure my sister would gladly name her son Simba if she had less common sense. I'm glad she has some XD The Lion King is her favorite movie still. She wanted to name her cat Simba, but she decided on Marcel in the end.

All I know about buying baby clothes is from a few months ago, when wife of Ash's friend was pregnant and we were having a sort of baby shower. We bought two pieces in bigger size, 3-6 months (luckily the website also had measurments listed in centimeters. He was born surprisingly tiny, but at least they had some additional clothes for later :mclaugh:

Bigger size gifts is definitely sensible, that way they will fit one day no matter what haha. We're asking people not to buy clothes at all for the baby shower. We'll end up with way too many otherwise. We're almost done on everything he'll need immediately, and the rest we'll buy as we go because there's too much guesswork involved otherwise.
(I don't know what size 68 equates to here haha, we just do everything by months)

Blankets will definitely be big here too. We (parents) already have our own blankets anyway XD My mother in law has a thing for buying us really soft and fluffy blankets for Christmas because every time we go bananas for them, we love them so much. We actually sleep under a collection of blankets instead of a duvet, like cavemen under furs XD XD and we have living room blankets for the winter months watching TV, and really smart blankets that only get put out when guests are round, and spare blankets, and and and~

Ooh, sorry. European, we like to measure in centimeters, 'cause months. Babies come in all sizes and according to size, it's usually ok. 68 equals to 3-6 months I think. :) So indeed, the "second" size, even though they start at 50, then 56, 62 (useless) and 68. They go up by 6cm, which equals to a little more than 2" every time. But yeah, Tesco and some other stores usually mention the "age" as well.

You forget seasons. I did get some stuff for age 1 year, but by the time the kid could get into it, it was summer. No need for a fluffy vest. :( Luckily I tried again. Twice, we did get use out of it eventually. ;-)

I try to calculate the season about 6 months after predicted birth and buy a 3-6 months for that season. Though layers are always good. :) :) Baby stuff is just too cute, also to make. <3 So little fabric needed and it's just. Cute.

Too much of the same word in a post, sorry. But it does make sense to wait a bit. Onesies are always useful, sometimes you need 4 in one day and you know how many you need to stuff one machine with laundry? Lol. Some extra is always useful. :)

Blankets are nice, we always have them around the couch to snuggle up. I prefer that over central heating, lol.

Yup, sizing is stupid sometimes, what the hell is supposed to be 68? XD Months are much easier.

Haha, and here I thought Ash and I were the only cavemen yet, sleeping under a plethora of blankets xD

68 is in cm, European kid sizes are in centimeters and are according to their length, so it goes up to 170cm which could even work for a (skinny) adult. :)

Considering a 4 year old could be 5" longer or shorter, I actually prefer the length-sizing. ;-)

You say that about seasons, but we live in the UK. It's the same exact level of cold here for all but like 3 months of summer and 1 month of winter anyway :'D We only have smaller sizes for things that are very warm (although actually now I think about it we only have one big fluffy onesie and one jumper/jacket thing so far, for 0-3mnths). The rest is just going to be layering. and blankets. Lots and lots of blankets if we need to go outside XD

as for inside, well, it doesn't matter. My chronic illness won't let me stand being cold, so we'll always heat the house up to a point where he won't need those big fluffy things either. If he's inherited his dad's genes (from Norway and India lol) then it won't be long before he's complaining about being too hot all the time, just like J does XD

sizing doesn't make a lot of sense however you do it, I think. Because everyone's body is a different shape. I'm short for example but I have rounder curves (okay, especially now, but that doesn't count hahaha). So a length measurement might end up making something look pretty bad on my body because all the tailoring will sit at the wrong points :mcheh: But then sizing the way we do it is also stupid. I can fit into a size 8 if something is stretchy and floor-length even now, because my short height makes up for my wide hips and chest lol. In fact I have one dress in size 8 I am still wearing while 7 months pregnant XD But if something is the right length for me, I have to wear a size 12, or it could even be above that. Basically, we don't have a good system for clothing anywhere, I don't think XD The best way is to have something completely measured and tailored to your size, but that's expensive and rare nowadays.

Yeah, sizing is messed up everywhere. It differs even for each clothing brand... :mcsweat:

News: I got the first dose of the vaccine yesterday! The pain was real :mcdead:
