That's what I was most comfortable doing.

Then my life went weird, and then my financial obligations started to massively outpace my ability to generate income (family Elders getting really expensive health issues and not being able to cover it on their own), then a cousin saved me from that but my savings was already gone and I'd had a visceral demonstration of how important it was to be able to make money not just via jobs.
So now I have a bunch of jobs to get back the living expenses and seed money, and I'm trying to learn how to turn that seed money into further income that would let me still stay home to take care of people if it comes up again.

Wish me luck!

Good luck indeed!

I'm glad I now have a really steady job, so I'm never worried of finding myself in a no-income situation anymore.
My life has improved so much ever since.

Steady jobs are great -until you can't do them suddenly, or they disappear on you for an unforeseen reason.

Yes, of course. But at least in the daily life I don't feel suffocated by bills.
And t's not a bad salary so I manage to save up quite quickly.
Can't complain.

Oh, that does sound nice!

I've never really been able to do a steady full-time job because family demands are too unpredictable; lots of part-time jobs, though, that I've been doing for years and years, or piece-work style which is inherently flexible.
I used to be totally happy with that, but my risk-aversion levels have been rising a lot lately, so it sounds so nice to have a predictable income!

It is nice. Specially since my husband also has an steady job.
Now we want to redo the bathroom, and we are not too worried about not being able to pay it.
It's a gret feeling, being not-worried.

That is nice!

And bathroom remodels are notoriously tricky, too, so having that one less stress to deal with sounds heavenly.

If I ever get to redo my bathroom, I want to do that trick where you take the pipe that brings hot water to the shower, and run it through a towel rack -that way while you're taking your shower it warms up your towel and when you're done there's a nice warm towel ready for you, and it doesn't cost anything more than a little extra piping.
Also the grab-bar/handicap rail is starting to rattle, and none of my attempts to fix it have worked, so it's on the wishlist too.
And because the place is old, a low-flow toilet would be really nice, it wastes so much water right now -but I can't quite justify changing it before it breaks, even if it would lower the water bill.
/random wishlist stuff

What're you going to do for your bathroom? Do you have a whole wishlist or just going to work on little fixes or what?

Well, when we bought this flat (4 years ago) we decided we had to redo the bath, mainly because some stuff (bathtub and cabinet) is in bad condition. This building is not too old (25 years) but I don't think they bought great quality.
The pipes are probably old cheap material and they will eventually give trouble, so we decided to replace them now that we are at it and redo the WHOLE thing.
Floor and wall tiles, lights, everything in the bathroom.

We thought we could not change the distribution - changing the toilet position is said to be really tricky - but we found a way that might work and we think the bathroom would look nicer.
Toilet and bidet on the right, basin on he left, bathtub on the end.

Also our current basin is on a large piece of furniture (counter? vanity? what do we call that?) and we want an smaller one so the bath does not look so small.
It does not have natural light (no window) so it's easy to feel a bit claustrophobic.

Oooh, sounds nice! When you change the basin furniture will you be giving up much storage space? Or will that remain unaffected?

Not much really.
I mean, we do not store that many stuff in the bathroom anyway. Just toilet paper and toiletries.
We don't even have the towels there, because it's got no proper ventilation and I don't want them to stink, so not much space needed.
