I use the bathroom for first-aid storage. Not sure why, really. I mean, that could go anywhere, so why the bathroom? But first aid and cleaning supplies are stored there.
Huh.
Habits you make without thinking them through.... seriously, why there?

Proabaly because that's where you had space?

I store first-aid stuff in the kitchen.
It does not make any more sense there either xD

...that sounds probable!

I know we're not supposed to eat much sugar, but I really love vegetables simmered in ginger beer, and the ginger beer I can get here is pretty sweet.
But it's so delicious!

You guys have already switched topics, lol, but do either of you have retirement accounts/investment funds?

'Cause Akili Li, you were talking about investing and being low on savings, and I think you also mentioned previously that you had multiple part-time jobs? And Amura, you mentioned that you were just saving up, but is your money stagnating in your bank, or do you have something already?

I feel like I'm sounding like a salesperson, LMAO, but in Canada we have something called an RRSP (registered retirement savings plan), which I guess in the US would be something like a 401(k) and no idea what elsewhere, so if you could find something like that instead of leaving the money in the bank, I think that would be a good idea to start with? And if investing sounds scary to you (it sounded scary to me too, Amura), or you don't know where to start (I sure didn't), you can also turn to investment funds, because then someone takes care of investing on your behalf, and you can choose between risk-levels, so you could opt for low-volatility funds so that your money is much safer, but still making you money. :)

Wow this is a wall of text and I'm jumping between ideas, but yeah, I thought of these various things when you mentioned your individual issues... please ignore me if you think I'm being a busy-body. :mcargh:

You sound like someone caring, Moon Star, which is never a problem. :) I'll take all the advice I can get -it's free, and I don't have to follow it, after all! So where's the downside?
It's always good to have more things to look up and learn from.

Thank you for the information, Moon Start!

Yes, there are things like that here.
My parents had a retirement investment fund, but they were not impressed. Because you get heavily taxed when you receive our money, so you really earn very little.

I've actually considered one 10 or 15 year bank deposit, because my son is about to turn 7 so it might be good having some money apart for college.
But we never really checked with the banks.

Our first aid stuff is in the kitchen
Kitchen is basically center of the house so no matter where you are (downstairs) you have easy access to it
Tho it's basically just bandaids lol

Because I lived for so long with so many people with so many health issues, my "first aid" supplies are.... extensive.
Yeah.
That's a good, safe word for it.
Extensive.

There are more minor kits all over, which I should probably go collect up since I don't need them the same way any longer, and those take up less space. Maybe half of a shallow kitchen drawer is all.
Oh! I know!
I should bring them to my various workplaces!
Most of them have deeply inadequate (by my view) first aid supplies, so it would be a good way to make them stay useful!

@Amura, I think talking with your bank might actually be the best first step, since they usually offer pamphlets or information (you could start by looking on their website) about the various programs and what-have-yous. :)

@Akili Li, I didn't really know anything before (I'd even say that I still don't really, haha), so this is all information that I received from my mom to help me with my own savings, so I figured I'd share the little knowledge I (mayhap) have. :)

As for our own first aid stuff, we have some in the cupboards in the kitchen, because there's plenty of space there (to go along with all the pills & vitamins and stuff), as well as bandaids in the bathroom, but those are utterly useless because it's all regular small ones and they do diddly squat for cat scratches, which are the primary bane I contend with. xDDDD

And Akili Li, it's a great idea to bring them to work! As long as they aren't expired (I think those can expire, but why?), and it's not against the rules or anything (because some places have crazy rules). :mcargh:

Some of the things in them can expire, yes; like topical antibiotic cream. Especially if they've been opened.

And of course even things like athletic wrap can lose elasticity over enough time.

And after a certain point, even if the item itself would be fine, you don't want to use it because the sealing isn't to be trusted so you can't assume it's uncontaminated. (Those regular plasters -bandaids- are usually in very poor-quality sealing, for instance, so if you go to an older family member's house and dig through cupboards you can find some where the wrapping is falling apart. Technically the plaster inside might be just fine -but don't use it!)

But for the most part, nothing I have should be any trouble in that sense -and I think if I just keep it in my personal locker then there shouldn't be any issue rules-wise, because it's "personal supplies" and not "work supplies", and if one coworker happens to loan another coworker some personal supplies, what is there to get worked up over?
Shhh, don't tell any of my bosses I said that!

Good for you, for taking on learning something new! I'm definitely checking out various options here. I even opened (a very small beginner) account with two other banks in the neighboring city just so I could talk to more people and have access to more tools to learn about this stuff. There's SO MUCH to learn, though. It's rather overwhelming sometimes.... but the only way past it is through it, so....
