Absolutely.
Soap and water does a great job and it's not so harmful. Much better choice.

We had to start adding a bottle of lotion along with the bottle of soap at the offices here, because everyone was washing their hands so often that they were constantly dry enough to chap -which defeats the purpose since a broken skin barrier during a pandemic is terrifying!


I'm curious about the dragon boat festival, though. How can you celebrate that if you can't do the crowds? Are there things you can do as an individual too? It seems like such a COMMUNAL holiday, instead of an individual one --but maybe I just have the wrong idea about it?

Oh yeahh, i always have handcream on my table. 8U like i know, with my habits, i NEED lotion constantly at hand.

i’ve never really celebrated it? Like i haven’t been to a dragon boat festival in yeaaars. The only thing i do to “celebrate” it is to buy zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings). XD they usually come on sale at around this time.

The night market was SO. CROWDED.
Just a sea of people... So we didn't stay long. BUT we did get to eat everything we wanted so that was nice!

@Lili: The Dragon Boat Festival is something that you can celebrate as a community or individually depending on where you are and the situation. In some places, there are community events like actual dragon boat racing. But at home, people tend to just make zongzi (or buy it) and have a nice meal. I think most holidays are like that? There are community options for those who enjoy a more crowded fun scene, but also you can always just celebrate at home by yourself too~

My sister has learned how to make zongzi lol. XD

Hmmm... new recipes are always appealing.... how hard is it to make zongzi?

It's a bit time consuming but not too difficult, just a matter of wrapping the sticky rice and fillings into bamboo leaves, that's the biggest challenge XD

Also, those food pictures are really delicious-looking! Night market food seems worth the trip...

Which was your favourite? The bone marrow? Was the dango like you thought it would be or did it surprise you?

Ooo that's a hard one. The marrow was good but got too rich by the second bite. It was a good thing that there was three of us to share it LOL.
I would say my favourite was the fish cake, I'm a sucker for wasabi mayo and the fish was fried to perfection QuQ

The dango was half half? They made it to order and it was really rushed, so the matcha and red bean ones were made first then the soy-glazed ones. The soy-glazed ones were then warm and soft and chewy and delicious, but the other two cooled too much and became kinda meh
