XD i mean, in contrast to a lot of modern horror, anyway, it feels fairly quiet to me - there's also a bit of a science fiction vibe, though the author, robert chambers, never really pursues that angle. (i understand that later in life he wrote the late victorian equivalent of harlequin romance novels, which... is a contrast, certainly. :mcheh: )

but even in comparison to lovecraft, it definitely seems quieter - the driving force of lovecraft's extreme racism and xenophobia doesn't fuel chambers (at least to the same degree - there is still some casual victorian racism in passing :mcsweat: i was rereading today and cringing a little) and his horrors are combined with a weird sort of beauty.

sadly, there's no local library from where I'm from. but universities and school's nearby has. I often borrowed non fiction novels from the library during my highschool and college years. then last semester, the books I borrowed are IT related ones and one for math statistics, all that would deemed useful to my class as I was a prof then

I take a lot of books out of the library for enjoyment. I usually go to the library every week or two in spring, summer, and fall.

I... might have to go, even though I'm afraid I might still have ancient fines. :mcheh: But I was thinking this morning that I really miss a particular corner of the nonfiction section - the one with lots of books about manners, customs, and traditions of various cultures. They'd probably have a lot of new books after ten years, right?

Well, one could hope so!

Have you ever wandered into the libraries of places you travel to, to see the differences?

I recently moved so I've been to that library once to check out a book. I was walking every where in there. Its huge! It has 2 floors, the local libraries I've always been to had 1 floor so it was so exciting to see that. xD Oh, I read for enjoyment.
