Here's a tutorial on how to make them ^^

Thank you for the link. There are a lot of sun other links in that site. I think I'm going to have fun with it.

And yes. The flowers would be the most expensive, but they are really pretty and resisting. God knows I wouldn't be able to take care of anything else but a cactus or relative of it. XD

I love love, love succulents!
But...
I don't seem very good at keeping them.

I bought three succulents and a cactus this summer.
By October the cactus had completely shriveled up!
I didn't know they could do that!!
Two of my succulents also shriveled up and turned a weird, sort of bleached color.
I don't know what I did wrong, maybe I over watered them?
I watered them once a week...
Or maybe too much sunlight?
I dunno...but I think I should do more research.

I wanna try owning succulents again cuz I would love to make displays and stuff with crystals and succulents!

zσяуα I'm pretty sure that over watering is the answer there. In the summer succulents and cacti like to be watered about 1/3 of a cup once every month or two and in the winter they like to be lightly misted. They also need a well draining pot and should never sit in water (like the water that builds in the tray after watering). Being desert plants they have evolved to need almost no water and survive on a drought flood system (long periods of dry and a short bit of rain).

Direct sunlight can cause some succulents or cacti to lose color, it depends on the species. Some do better in full sun and others in partial shade.

I like the idea of succulents in terms of they seemed to need less work. But listening to you all talk, sounds like they can be tricky, too!

Thank you for the information!
Really all I was ever told about was that succulents and cacti don't need as much water as other plants.
So usually I water my other plants maybe twice a week.
So I guess...I thought once a week was less than that so it would be fine.
XD

But thanks!
I'm so excited to try over again with succulents this spring!

I have two plants that I haven't killed yet. A mother-in-law's tongue and an aloe. Every other plant I've ever had died.

You might like succulent arrangements (even if you don't like succulents, they're very pretty)

My end goal is to make arrangements like these. Lots of beautiful plants in creative and interesting pots. Maybe make little landscapes, fun stuff ^^
that's awesome!
I own a frw sempervivum plants and I love them !

Finally read that bit on how to do the broken-pot thing.

Why do you need unglazed pots for it?

My husband and I used to have an aloe vera plant. We loved it way too much. Over watered it. Poor thing drowned.
