No, it's not just stigma. But, they don't have any more chance of getting it than any other wild animal such as foxes, skunks, raccoons, coyotes. Basically any wild animal that doesn't get vaccines could potentially be a rabies carrier.

Doesn't make me love any wild animals any less. In fact, I wish I had more bats in my area. I love to see them swooping around in the evening time.

Well, even if there's a very low % of them or any animal having rabies and biting my dad - it could happen.
My dad is very accident-prone and just constantly gets hurt.
It seems about his luck to get bitten and then get rabies by anything even with a small % chance xD

Metapod: >XD
I would like to have seen the doctor's reaction 8u

I actually stepped on something that stabbed into my food.
Like a dumbass, I reached down and pulled it out.
Since I didn't know if it was metal or not, my mom took me to the doctor to get a tetanus shot.
The nurse asked me how long it's been since I had one and I said I didn't remember and she said "Oh, well it's probably time for another one then \8u/"

Rabies reminds me of zombie viruses.
It's pretty damn scary.
But I have issues being scared of anything I find cute.
I would likely steer clear, but then again I did put this down once:

Me: Don't kill it ;0;
Family: Ashley, it's a zombie dog >Bu
Me: He won't hurt anyone ;0;
Family: It's chewing on your neck >BU
Me: ;0; -spurts blood-

Oh, wow, yeah, I am SO thankful to live in an age where we have tetanus shots! Lockjaw scares me worse than rabies.

Oh god, Lock jaw. I have not thought about that in a long time. That would be horrible.

I've never had lockjaw, but I do have issues with my jaw.
It pops and cracks and used to lock up.
A oral surgeon told me there was something wrong with it, but I don't remember what.
He said I might need surgery somewhere down the line.

So I assume lockjaw is horrible u8

Sounds like what I have - TMJD - Temporomandibular joint disorder. It's something wrong with the joints in the jaw and how they are connected to the ear. Super weird.

That...actually could be it. 8u

I remember one day when I was a kid, my jaw locked and I couldn't close my mouth and it hurt so bad that I skipped school that day xD

Yeah, that happens to me sometimes as well - or my jaw hurts if I eat something too chewy or hard. Ugh.

The clinic I work at actually has a lot of patients coming in with TMJ, because there's a chiropractor there who manages to help about half of them (without surgery), and they keep sending other people in to see him. It's always so sad to see him moping around when he gets one of the patients he can't help. That guy is like a giant living teddybear. I don't know how he's made it to his age without someone taking dreadful advantage of him.
