Having the picture being cut of doesn't work because it also cuts off the text and the edit buttons etc. We already tried that.
But starkad made it so that you cannot post pictures wider than 500 pixel now. Any picture under 500 pixel shouldn't be stretching the page unless you have a really weird screen resolution.
We'll add making imagemaps work to the to-do-list but it's a very long list and imagemaps are somewhere at the end of it as other things like the forum being displayed the way it's supposed to be in Internet Explorer or the avatar system have a much higher priority to us.
