Ooh, if you teach maths do you have any textbook recommendations to help me understand elliptic curves and the modularity theorem? I've got relatives who are really into math and I keep getting lost when they start talking. And none of them seem to use textbooks because they all know the stuff so well they "just keep up with the papers and you'll never get lost" which is so far beyond me right now, I have to sit there referencing things all the time and going, "wait which conjecture is that exactly again? I can't recognize it just from the name" and all.

Hmm, not really.
I've been away from formal maths for so long now.
I'm only teaching high school students, so I keep focusing on divulgative maths and teaching techniques for more basic stuff in general.
Wiles was quite a discussion topic when I was in college, his progress was important (and was even later, as he proved Fermat's last theorem) but even then I did not care to read his work.
I guess it was not my thing.
And too complicated for me to dive really deep into it.
So why are you reading about it?

.... I don't.... actually... have a reason?
Huh.
I never thought about it.
I guess everybody needs a hobby?

You have quite an unusual hobby
I used to love learning maths.
I think I got saturated and now I don't care much about learning any more, it hardly piques my interest.
I prefer learning completely different things - usually related to teaching, other times just something completely unrelated.
I'm like that, I end up getting bored of everything.

Well, but you're teaching it. That's kind of enforced time spent with it, so of course it makes sense you'd get tired of it.
Now on the other hand I've got very little going on in my life that actually requires any kind of complexity when it comes to numbers, so the allure of novelty has never worn off.
I bet if you entirely changed genres you'd find your interest piqued again. Like all that hoopla last summer with the study done on shark intestinal shapes and the similarity to a Tesla valve; you could combine insights from that and ancient Greek hydraulophones to use it as a basis to experiment creating new instruments designed to attach to rain gutters, or whatever else sparks your imagination.

Ah, I'm not sure, I think I'm getting too old xD
If I have any leisure time all I want to do is baking cookies

or playing Sims!

...I'm pretty sure age isn't a factor unless you're talking about actual senility issues.... you should hear my grandparents attempting to pun in whatever language they're trying to learn at the moment, and they were born in the 1920s. Neither of them are linguists, it's just a hobby.
You just find what's interesting for you, and what inspires you, and off you go!
The trick is finding the energy to go out in search of something that's interesting to you. >.<

Hi, Kitti! Welcome!
You can change things like "mood" by going to the "My Account" tab in the top menu bar, and then selecting "Account Settings" from the drop-down menu.
That's also where you can do things like add a website to your profile or change your notification preferences and a bunch of other social media stuff I don't understand because I'm not familiar with social media.

Hello and welcome!
Check out my charity thread! I'm giving away many items for FREE! All you gotta do is go through the list and tell me which items you want and I'll send it to you. You can access my thread quickly by following the link in my signature. ^-^
Since you are new, I would also suggest learning how to use the "Dream Avatar" feature. That is currently the only place we have right now to view all items (so it would be useful to use so that you know what items I am giving away).
